PO85RD with D300 added in?

I need to prepare my car (2012 VW GLI, Black) for Cquartz (so to a perfect finish). It's in pretty good shape and think that PO85RD will take care of most of the imperfections. Planning to use a LC White foam pad.



I wonder what results I should expect if I try to use a few drops of D300 on the same white pad as I go as required (for anything deeper). Alternatively if I used Meg's MF cutting disc with PO85RD (and D300 as required).



Of course, trying it will be the real test, but I wonder if anyone have tried mixing these products already?
 
Not sure what you are trying to acheive with this since these are fairly different products. But then I only do this as an expensive hobby. Try it out and give us your results.

I agree. Seems there are a lot of less aggressive compounds if you were determined to mix something. Looks like you would want to do a test spot first to determine what was needed to get you where you wanted to be finish wise. IMO.
 
The whole idea of finishing polishes is how they finish. Doing something to alter that defeats the purpose of using them in the first place.



I'd reserve the PO85RD for what it's made for and not try to turn it into something it's not. And I wouldn't try to dilute the cut of the D300. And mixing diminishing and non-diminishing products oughta be done for specific reasons, if at all (I generally don't do that period).



Plus, generally speaking, I'm *MUCH* more in favor of using potent products on gentle pads rather than the other way around.
 
Yes, I suppose it is quite the mixmatch in products. I think my theory was that with what I'd heard about D300 and how well it finishes, to put a small amount for sections that need it might have worked.



I think what I'll try is PO85 on white to start, then D300 on MF cutting pad where needed. This will keep everything separated. I'm very excited to try the D300/MF system, but this car doesn't really warrant it.



I'll be sure to take photos along the way.

It'll be interesting to see how badly/not the D300 hazes up areas that were previously done with the PO85RD.



On the mixing, if the D300 weren't non-diminishing it might've worked better. Long after the PO85RD has broken down to the functionally-nonabrasive point, the D300 will still be cutting/hazing same as it ever did.
