Po85RD Vs Optimum Polish

What are the experts opinion on PO85RD vs OP?

Which has more bite?

Which has more gloss

Which is the most flexible?

Which dusts the least?

And any other thoughts?

I've just ordered some OP following the thread on the forum about the favorite products. Would like to know if there is any best known methods.

I plan to use OP on a white polishing pad to remove some minor marring on my hood.

Thoughts?

OP has decent bite and corrects well for what it is. OP will not dust at all, and is probably more flexible, as it cant be used as a finishing polish, light polish or light compound depending on the pad. PO85RD doesn't have as much cut, but most will agree that it finishes down to the highest gloss of any finishing polish, period.

#80 is NOT a filling product when worked properly.

What does that mean?

In my experience, #80 leaves something (call it filler, glaze, or whatever term you like) behind that helps to hide defects.

It means that if you break down all the abrasives in the polish that it will leave a nicely finished glossy surface that is squeaky clean.

The Menzerna PO85RD and PO106FF finish is superb. I get better results using them via rotary, but they work well via PC. PO85RD has Cut=1.5, Gloss=5. PO106FF has Cut=2.5, Gloss=5. You can have enough bite with PO106FF via rotary working it at 1500 rpm until it goes clear.

I didn't tried Optimum polishes.

I never tried Optimum. But PO85RD is the ULTIMATE in creating a super finish ready for a lsp. 85 has a very little bite and will not remove but the smallest of flaws in your paint. If you need paint correction try something with more bite.

I like, use and recommend FPII all the time and I use to use it alot as a final polish with my Cyclo, I never liked it with a rotary for dust issues but with the Cyclo I loved the results. I have found recently though that the new OP formula, even though it has a better bite than the old formula, finishes out even finer than the old formula and darn near close to FPII.

Ron, Kevin and myself have been using the new "Opti-Seal" one step which is still in testing and Kevin has found that it corrects via rotary and leaves a super nice finish. I have yet to try it via rotary so it will be interesting to see how it compares with the benchmark Menzerna finishing polishes.
