Plush Microfibers from Patrick/Excel Detail

Hi Patrick ( Excel Detailing),

Got my order yesterday (Saturday). 3 days from Cali to Virginia. Great turn-around time , as usual!!! :bounce

I love the Microfiber loop Chenille mitt. This mitt is just like its picture. Very plush, good size and well constructed. I forsee no problem with "backing" exposure as some have suggested could occur. In the dry state you can't even see the backing because of the density of the MF loop chenille strands. :xyxthumbs. I will not be able to use until this cold/ice/snow snap ends along with the other MF wash mit I purchased from you. Missed my opportunity yesterday. It was 57* and sunny but had to work a few hours. Today all hell is supposed to happen - sleet, snow, freezing rain and very cold.

I really should count our blessings. This will be only our 2nd measureable snow ice this winter.

Thanks Patrick for another wonderful detailing tool at a good price. :wavey

I would highly recommend 16x16 Plush towels, they are among the best...

Just ordered another 20 blue ones;)

Due to technical difficulties (new computer/modem/networking fiasco), and rainy weather, I have been unable to post about the MF towel Patrick had sent me until now.

Patrick sent me one of his yellow 16x16's to try. It is very plush, actually feeling "substantial" when compared to the Walmart and Turtle Wax towels I've been using. I also immediately noticed that it is not nearly as "grabby" or "clingy" as any others I have tried. I was really impressed with these two qualities immediately.

I first used it with Final Detail over my entire car. To say it did a great job would be an understatement. It's a huge improvement over the WM and TW towels, which take several passes to buff off Final Detail. With Patrick's, the first "wet" wipe picked up the dust, and the second wipe absorbed all of the excess FD. Without streaks or smears! I did my entire car with the one towel (it was minimally dusty), and even when finishing, I had no problem with streaking from too much FD in the towel. I was impressed to say the least.

After washing the towel, I decided to try it on my windows. This is another area the Walmart and Turtle Wax towels leave a little to be desired. For me, both leave super tiny specks of lint that make my windshield look extremely pitted. And they both tend to "grab" the glass, which may account for the shedding they do. I used Patricks, and no longer had the shedding problem. It buffed my glass streak-free, inside and out. I was expecting some smearing, as it had only been laundered once after using Final Detail, but there was no smearing at all. I usually use dedicated glass cleaning towels, as I've found using other products with my glass towels leaves smeary residues even after laundering the towels. I don't know if the lack of smearing this time was attributed to the towel, or effective laundering, but thought it was an interesting observation.

I have now even used this same towel for wax/sealant removal. I use Megs #20, which I've had no problems removing in the past. This towel was no exception. Removal was very easy, but one point I liked was the plushness of the towel set me a little more at ease while buffing. The same side of the towel also seemed to remain effective at removing the sealant for longer when compared to my others. I think this is because of the plushness.

I've washed this towel several, several times. It still looks and feels the same, so it should last a nice time. It also hasn't rolled up like my TW towels (and Walmart to a lesser extent) always do. And my Walmart towels seem to get thinner each time they are washed.

All in all, in my opinion, this is a very nice towel. In all fairness, I have not tried some of the others raved about on this site, so I can not give a comparison to them. But I can say that this towel easily meets all of my needs and expectations. When my now "sub-standard" supply dwindles low, these will be on my list as replacements (my wife says I need to use my existing stock first, so maybe I'll use them for applying tire dressing, checking my oil, replacing my Charmin, etc....).

I'd like to publicly thank Patrick for sending me this towel to try.

Dave
