Please help with Correct Polish to remove spiderwebs

I am a teacher and I use a good part of my summer to detail my 3 cars. I will take and post pics after- just trying to get some opinions so i can start planning.



The cars in question are:



white 2007 chevy monte carlo ss: moderate spider webs otherwise clean; car was washed once a month at hand car wash during winter - I provided MF drying towels! Car was detailed by me last summer with Porter Cable but I did not get all of the spider webs out. (Used Menzerna IP & FPII)



black 1983 volkswagen rabbit gti: Single Stage original paint: somewhat oxidized from daily driving and lack of winter maintenance; few spider webs; car was washed once a month at hand car wash during winter- I provided MF drying towels! Car was detailed by me last summer with Flex - came out amazing for a 25 year old daily driver! (Used Megs 83 & Menz FPII)



black 1987 buick grand national (garaged): Single Stage original lacquer paint: ALOT of spiderwebs otherwise clean. Never polished by me, used Porter Cable - Pinnacle Paint cleaner and wax. Car has alot of spiderwebs because I detailed it about 4-5 years ago with black bath towels before I knew about Autopia.



These are the polishes that I have: 1. Menzerna IP 2. Megs 83

3. 1Z Paint Polish (green cap) 4. Menzerna po85rd 5. Menzerna FPII



I know that it's difficult to give opinions without pics but lets give it a shot.



I will be using the Flex: I will wash w/2bucket method, clay , rewash and then dry with blower.



1. Menzerna IP or Megs 83- white pad (Dont have SIP for Monte clearcoat- do i need it?)

2. Mernzerna po85rd- green pad

3. IPa

4. Pinnacle Paint Cleaner- green or blue pad?

5. IPA

6. RMG -vw; DWG- monte ; nothing or RMG for GN? blue or black pad?

7. Megs 16 - monte; Collinite 915 - gti; Zymol Vintage - GN



Please critique. I know there's alot here but i didnt want to create 3 different threads.

Retired teacher here...I'll see if I can help any.



First, I recommend you pick up some M105. Yeah, I know..."buy something" and it *is* a flavor of the month product. But it's just *SO* handy to have on-hand. I really do think you'll like it for the Monte Carlo.

Expect pretty hard clear. You can probably make it look OK (~85%) with the IP followed by the 1Z PP; I used the 1Z on a white '07 Chevy and it came out OK for a one-step on an in-law's company car, so using the IP first should add to that (but M105 would *really* work well).

Since what you used before worked so well, I'd stick with that.

Go very easy on it...it's only original once and there are worse things than marring (including repaints ).

Get some M105, yeah, you'll be glad you did

OK, if you think you need it.

4. Pinnacle Paint Cleaner- green or blue pad?

Use zero-cut pads with PCL. I'd use the milder of the two as the PCL doesn't have much/any functional cut and it doesn't (IME) need a lot of porosity to work OK. Just watch that the pad doesn't load/gum up.

5. IPA

I wouldn't clean off the stuff that the PCL leaves behind, so I wouldn't IPA the car(s) you use it on.

6. RMG -vw; DWG- monte ; nothing or RMG for GN? blue or black pad?

I'd see how tht RMG works on NON-IPAed Pinnacle PCL. The PCL works as a glaze. I *would* plan to glaze the GN as I'd try to do more concealing/less correcting on that paint.



I would want *some* kind of glaze on the ss black cars, but I've never used RMG. EDIT: I just read on another post that RMG doesn't do much filling/concealing. IMO you *want* good filling for that GN and probably for the VW too. Maybe Meg's #9 or something else that's notorious for its fillers would be the best choice here.



Use the mildest pad that doesn't load up with the product in question. Use zero-cut pads for glazing.

7. Megs 16 - monte; Collinite 915 - gti; Zymol Vintage - GN

Sounds good.





Then get some kind of better wash figured out so you don't have to do this again for a good, long time
