Plastic Window Trouble

I had a liitle accident while I painted my rear bumper on Sunday, I taped from the top of the bumper up to the top of the trunk and painted my lower rear valence in my brothers back yard and it was a little windy. Yesterday when I went to wash my car I noticed when I washed the back it felt like sand paper, I scratched it with my finger nail in felt it come off, I tried bug and tar remover and it didn't do anything, well maybe a little, and I need some advice on something I can use to take it off? The good thing is, you can't tell it's there from looking at it, it's still VERY shiney.
 
When I ran over a can of spray paint, I used mineral spirits and it removed the spray paint really easily.



It isn't harmful on your clearcoat or anything but it will strip any wax, glaze or whatever is layered on your paint.
 
Try using Clay. It was originally intended to remove overspray for body shops. I have used it with great success on my former vehicle that had industrial epoxies and polyurethane paints.
 
ya, I would try the clay first> I had some white paint on the rear of the SS from them painting new lines on the street. The clay took it off no problem!!!!
 
Ditto the Clay. When I picked up my Explorer from the body shop it had clearcoat overspary on it. The ONLY thing in my arsenal that removed it was QD spray and a claybar.
 
Mineral spirits is very good, it cost like 2.00 - 3.00 for this at any hardware store. It will probaly work better than the clay.



Ron Ketchman told me it was the best thing to use for this type of problem, it poses no risk's, no problems and is not abrasive. If anything I would be scared of using clay, all your going to do is drag the paint particles across your paint.......
 
I am sure someone you has mineral spirits (a.k.a paint thinner). So you should not have to buy any.
 
Clay will do a faster and better job with less stress on the surface than cleaners. Hard to believe, but true!
 
So I got my order from PAC, the Meguiars #10 and #17 plastic window cleaning kit. My Jeep plastic windows have some pretty bad scratches. Unfortunately, this kit gave me a maybe a 10% improvement. I guess I was expecting miracles? I did them while on the vehicle, I think tomorrow i'll lay them on a a towel on the ground so I can press harder. Maybe i'll buy a new set and have "Road windows" and "Trail Windows". Dang.
 
I have used M10/M17 and they were very mild. One is just a cleaner. They know sit on the shelf. I had better luck with Mothers Plastic Polish and Meg's PlastX.

Meg's seems to be a tad more aggressive but Mothers seemed to finished better (clearer).
