Plastic Window and Pine Sap

For those Jeep Wrangler owners who frequent the off road trails - how do you get tree sap/pine tar off of the rear plastic windows? For those convertible owners that park under a tree - how do you get tree sap/pine tar off of the rear plastic window?

Yeah I know it is the same question. Let`s hear how to get it done.

Try to get to it before it hardens. Before it hardens Nextzett Window Cleaner will take it off easily. After it hardens (weeks) carefully scrape with a plastic razor blade and then try the Nextzett.

I recently moved to South Carolina and I`m surrounded by pine trees. I`ve been using hand sanitizer to remove the pine sap.

Ive heard this will work. Must be the alcohol content. Does it do anything to really petrified pine tar? Pine tar is clear when it first drops, then it will turn amber after about a year. I have found nothing that will remove the amber pine tar except scraping.

I`m pretty diligent about checking the car, and I haven`t been here long enough to deal with any sap that`s really hardened.

And yes, it`s the alcohol that does the trick. The nice thing about the hand sanitizer is due to the viscosity, you can put a few drops on the sap, and it`ll sit on top to start softening it. I just rub it gently with my fingertip to break down the sap and wipe with a soft microfiber. In some cases, when the sap has sat a little too long, it leaves a slight halo or footprint on the paint. I haven`t tried a plastic razor, but I`m going to break out the polisher to see if that`ll do the trick.
