plastic trim on avalanche?

I was approached by a older gentleman who owns a 2002 avalanche to perform a complete detail on his vehicle. The dealership "detailed" his vehicle and ended up messing up the plastic trim on the vehicle. They got wax on it thefore making alot of it turn white. He brought the vehicle back and they said they were going to fix it. They did fix some of it, but there are areas where it is still stained.



What can i use on this plastic around the vehicle to maintain a longer shine and protection? I dont want to use dressing,but something that can actually bring it back to its original luster and stay that way. There is minimal abuse on it now,but i want to make sure whatever i use it will last after a wash or rain storm.



This guy is very particular about this vehicle and I have never detailed an avalanche before. It is white in color with minimal swirls.
 
I have tried everything recomended on this site over the last couple of years including the 3m stuff and aio and nothing worked. But the mister clean magic eraser did the trick. It took off wax residue that was there for over a year that nothing else touched. Highly recommended and very cheap.
 
Was your trim textured? I was thinking of purchasing some 3M after seeing the before and after shots in another thread.
 
Thanks alot for the responses! But what are you guys using to dress the trim and help keep that luster for a longer period of time?
 
I'm fond of 1Z Tiefenpfleger on exterior trim.



I use Tiefenpfleger on both my Saturn VUE (lots of plastic cladding) and Land Rover Discovery (lots of black trim).



On the VUE's textured gray cladding, the Tiefenpfleger leaves a matte finish which survives multiple car washes and rain storms. On the Discovery, the black trim has a nice smooth finish.



Try doing a search on "Avalanche" as this topic came up 6-8 weeks ago. I remember several recommendations for AIO/SG came up.

If you're asking me, yes my trim was textured. The 3m stuff followed by meguiars #39 heavy duty vinyl cleaner lightned it but didn't completly remove it. The next best thing to the magic eraser was a regular grey eraser. Everything else like (aio,vm,peanut butter, and alot of other trim cleaners) just covered it up for a while. I think the magic eraser is less then $2 and you can get it almost anywhere so I would try it first. Just wet it a little scrub the area wipe clean and dress and wax residue all gone not covered up.:up

I have GREAT success with AutoInt/ValuGard's "Trim and Molding Renewer".



Might not be available in small quantity... I dunno.
