Plan of action

Hi Guys,

I finally received my order from Proper Autocare. I now have a load of goods sitting on my shelf at home and need a plan of action. The car is a Nissan Skyline GTR in metallic blue as seen on my avtar. The car has some minor swirls and some nasty water marks whch i have tried shifting with no success. I have tried vinigar aswell as Megs Deep body scrub.

I really want the best finish and i have the following to try

PC with a load of pads

Pinnacle Poly Clay kit

Menzerna IP

Menzerna FP

Megs #7

BF all finish paint protection

Pinnacle liquid souveran

Loads of MF towels

The car really does need good detailing as it was shipped from Japan by boat for 2 months so it has been exposed to heat, salt and rain.

What would be the best plan of action for an awsome deep super smooth finish?

Many thanks

Gerry

Mmmm.... Skyline! :bow

I'm not exactly sure how strong IP is, but you may need moderate strength products to get rid of stubborn water spots and deeper swirls. Hopefully it won't require more... Keep in mind that working at the paint by hand will take you longer and will require more effort on your part. You really have to work polishes in very thoroughly to get anywhere. By machine this isn't so bad, but by hand you will either take a long time or you should be prepared for a real workout.

To achieve a really good shine you should try to make the preparation stages as perfect as possible, before you even get to using #7. If you rely on the next product to correct what the previous one was supposed to fix, you'll only cause disappointment. Good luck.

Thanks Brian,

Thankfully i bought a PC so long gone are the days where it use to take me hours on end to detail my car. What would get wrid of the water spots for good? DACP perhaps????

Many thanks

Beautiful car Gez, congratulations!

If it were me mate and of course I know nothing, but, I'd use what knowledge you already have of the products and experiment.

Lock yourself away in the garage, portion the bonnet into sections and go for broke!

Once you find a combination that pleases you the most do the rest of the car.

I've been playing around for a few weeks and have found a combination that I am very very pleased with.

And would you believe the one that gives best results is the simplest combo of all!

It's also more fun this way.

Thats always the case m8! Thats what i will have to do me thinks... :D As long as i get wrid of those damn watermarks which drive me up the wall...

Regards

Gerry

If you have the two Menzerna products already, I would try them. Usually one can get away with owning only two polishes, one very fine and one of moderate strength. Try the FP first (gentlest methods first remember) and then use the IP if that doesn't work. IP may be around the neighborhood off DACP's strength, but I can't remember what I had read in the past. Try reading up on IP by searching perhaps.
