Pinnacle swirl remover Long post.

Since I was one of the lucky ones to get the new pinnacle swirl remover packages from autogeek for $10 I thought I should let yautopia know what I think of it.

Sorry but I have no before pics because the swirls on my 2002 Black Trailblazer weren't bad enough to show up very well in pics.

Just to let you know what I was starting with Mike Pennington from Meguiars saw my Trailblazer at a recent clinic and told me my car was in pretty good shape and that all I needed was some swirl free polish and a polishing pad, if that helps anyone. Normally in this situation I would use 1z metallic because 1z is my favorite line of polishes and I don't care for SFP.

So I went with the regular swirl remover and used a white polishing pad on speed 5. I like the fact that you can actually see this polish breaking down it goes from greenish white to almost clear after a few passes. When removing my paint was very (squecky) similar to what I get with the meguiars line. After doing half the hood I took it out in the sun to compare. the results were awesome maybe even a little bit better than MP. I would say 95% of the swirls were gone/filled. I then topped with the Liquid Soveran and must say that LS is by far the easiest liquid wax/sealant to remove I have ever used. It almost came off with no pressure on the MF. It looks just as good as every other top end wax/sealant and has very good slickness. Very satisfied.

I don't know well the swirl remover removes swirls because I didn't do the alcohol test but it filled/removed them to my satisfaction. One thing I do not like is this product is very very oily. It reminds me of the problems I had with paintwork cleansing lotion when I first joined autopia. You have to take your car in the sun to see if you removed all the product and at times it seemed like I was just pushing oil around. This may be operator error that can be eliminated after getting more familar with it though, well see.

Overall I am very satisfied and would consider buying both the swirl remover and liquid soveran again.

Good write-up, madazskunk. Did the oiliness go away after you applied the LS or did you wipe it all off first?

Whenver I go that with the PPCL I figured I used too much product, but then I blame almost every problem on that :D

Thanks! I got all the oil off the hood before applying the LS but not on the vertical panels. The oiliness wasn't that bad or noticable after the LS on the vertical panels but was still there a little bit. Only noticable at certain angles in direct sun.

Yea! that's why I said it may be user error, but these two pinnacle products are the only ones I remember having this much of a problem with oiliness.

just curious, but u use 1z mp to remove swirls? i thought it was too gentle to be able to do that?

1z mp is very mild, but I'm at the point now where I'm content with rounding the edges and filling swirls until absloutely necessary. Then I'll go with the PP or DACP.

I didn't check to see how well the pinnacle stuff removed or just filled but I'll find out in a couple of weeks.

where are the after pictures??? I don't see anything

I am not a big fan of pictures because I've seen dirty cars in pictures look good. Now that my football game is over I'm gonna go qd and maybe top with soveran paste just for kicks and check again. I'll take some pics then post if I have time.

and another. I don't know what those two big white spots are I went back out and checked and didn't see anything. The little specks are little rock chips I think.
