Actually the reason why Lexus black of that era looks so rich and deep is BECAUSE its single stage. I was sad to see them go to a clear coated black. Its not nearly as deep.
 
Sorry for bringing up a 1.5 month old thread. Not to highjack the thread, but I'm also an owner of a Lexus GS (1999).



The 98-00 GS300/400 came with single stage black. The 01-05 GS300/430 came with clear coat.



I think it's the DP wax because I got similar results as your car. Needless to say, I probably have to try your combo soon :woot2: Here is my result with the DP wax:;

Regardless of clear coat or not, I think our black looks great after a nice detail!:goodjob

I can't say I totally agree with that, I was able to acheive an awesome shine on my Lexus which isn't single stage.



I have worked on a few lighter color Lexus though, and they don't shine like black does...
