Hi, sorry for the barrage of threads..

Does anyone have a pic or could possibly take a pic of the proper amount of Zaino Z2 to apply? I think I may be applying too much or too little :(

I usually end up with 1/2-oz of Z2 left in the ZFX bottle after two coats.. bout a dime size per panel.

Thanks!

Don't have a pic handy but my buddy and me just did his 911 and my GTI, two coats each starting out with the bottle ½ full (1oz), and had leftovers. Granted the cars are small but thin coats are better, and easier to buff. I was even worried about going too thick at times. There's many methods if you look around but I dampen a pad with Z-6, helps for making thin coats, and work with small amounts on the pad doing about 18 square areas. I like to make a box and then color it in.

Dime sized dollop doesn't sound like too much per panel, but it depends on the size of the car and the weather conditions I suppose.

What's your car, Zylo? (Hummer? Miata? Makes a difference! :D ) For an average-size car, the quantity you used sounds about right to me. I use about 3/4-ounce per coat. Some folks here are awesome and can get it even thinner. And, yeah, as Sharkie said, Z6 the applicator before applying the Z2.

BTW, are you using a yellow foam applicator or Zaino's terry one? I think the terry applicator cloth soaks up a lot of product, so -- if that's what you're using -- you may be putting less than you think on the car.

Ok, first, take your applicator and spray some Z6 on it to dampen it.

Second, think of that bottle of Zaino costing $1000.00. Put a small amountt on the applicator and wipe back/forth on horizontal surface. On vertical, up/down.

It sould be hard to see as you apply it. If you get a line of product visible, it's too much, spread it around!

Once set up, try "finger test". Run a clean finger over the area that you think is dry. If it is, it wil show gloss, if not, it will show wet or haze. As you wipe it off and start to get any streaks, get a spray bottle, and add 1/2 capful of Z7 to 12oz of water. Mix and spray on area that may be streaked. Wipe that off. It now should be OK. If so, Z6 the area B4 second application.

You DID wash any oils off after polishing with Dawn or Z7 right? Polishes contain oils/silicone with maybe the exception of Menzerna and make Zaino not bond properly to the paint.

When in doubt about Zaino application? Wash with Dawn or Z7 B4. If Dawn washed, I'd wash one more time with Z7 to remove any and all film left by Dawn.

Remember, only 3 coats of ZFX Zaino per 24hr period. Don't forget Z6 B4 and after each application.

If you still cannot resolve, please call Sal Zaino in the AM, 8:30AM-11:30AM for any issues/questions.

Regards,

Deanski

Deanski, wouldn't you just Z6 here?

For light streaking, a slightly damp microfiber towel works wonders. For moderate to heavy streaking, i.e. way too much product, a Z7 wash will take care of it. I have not found Z6 to be very effective for dealing with streaking.
