Not sure if i can post in this forum or not.

But these are the things I'd like to fix on my car.

Wanted some advice from you guys, since you seem to really know how to work the stuff.

As for the rear bumper, I'm going to use JB Weld to fix the crack and then take it from there.

I don't know if polishing/waxing etc...etc...will do it or will i need to get some paint? Hit it against an underground pole support.

Pretty bad, but the car is 9years very minimal rust, only body rust on the exterior is the left door pic.

Suggestions...ideas...welcome...thanks guys

(mods if it's in the wrong forum, just tell me, ill move it)

so where do i start with this mess...i really wanna fix it all up, after seein how much improvement can be made...

Have you gotten a quote on the bumper from a body shop, or what a new one would cost? No offense, but JB Weld ain't gonna cut it there. If you do it on the outside it will look like absolute crap, and if you do it on the inside I just don't think it will hold up. You'd be better off trying a fiberglass patch on the inner side of the bumper if you tried anything at all. My experience with JB Weld is that is just doesn't harden up right when you layer it on thick. As for the paint I've seen worse on here brought back to almost new condition.

I personally would just save for a new bumper. It doesn't have to be OEM but you can get an OEM replica if you prefer the cheaper alternative.

As for the swirls and what not on your car, try a simple car wash to see where you're at and get back to us. I have no idea what you have in your arsenal as far as car care products but it would be helpful to know so that we can make more specific suggestions rather than very general ones. Good luck with that.

tasty & denzil...i was thinkin about a new bumper but one of my buddies friends is a damn good mechanic and has been for a long time and they both suggested JB weld so i thought...ok ill give it a shot...the guy really knows his stuff, so ill give it a shot and see how it holds up, i'd prefer a new bumper to, but if i can save $ and the JB weld holds up, ill do that route for a bit since im a college student in september.

as for what i have in my arsenal, i didnt buy anything yet, other than a PC 7424.

other than that...im ready to buy the stuff i need to get workin on my car...guess i should give it wash once over to show you guys what it looks like but i think my pics are pretty accurate regardless of the wash or not.:nixweiss

I completely agree, I've brought back paint worse than that from the dead, and so have most of the guys here. It just takes some time & practice. The PC will make life a lot easier for you.

Since you're concerned about cost, go to a paint/body supply store and get Meguiars # 83 Dual Action Cleaner Polish, and some # 82 Swirl Free Polish, these two products should take care of 95% of your paint issues leaving you only to decide what wax you want to put on top.

The bumper...have you tried checking a salvage yard? I've bought parts that were like new for pennies from the one near me... 1996 Jeep Cherokee side mirror...Dealer $240, After Market $100, Salvage Yard $30 !!

Hi Don...thanks for the suggestions, I was probably going to go that route with #83 and #82...but also gave thought to AIO.

since a lot of people swear by it as well...but i do like MEGs' stuff as well.

As for the bumper well I'm going to look aroud for one for now, but will also try that JB Weld stuff since my buddies really know their stuff when it comes to cars and LITERALLY all kinds of trivial and sometimes useless stuff. I'm very confident with them. But I will do as you guys said and look for a used bumper in the meantime.

...thanks again...:xyxthumbs...

kuba, if you really don't have anything in your arsenal but your pc7424, I suggest clicking the link in my sig. It is a fairly thorough list of what to start with in auto detailing. If money is a strong factor in purchasing prodcuts for your arsenal, there are some things on my list that can be skipped in the meantime for your initial purchase.

money isnt a huge issue...as long as it's reasonable i dont mind buying it. i treat it as an investment so i really dont mind spending the extra few bucks...ya i seen your list before, going to print it tomorrow, really really good...thanks:xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs :xyxthumbs
