The Man With The Plan
Well, after all this talking, I finally got to work on my 03 GMC Envoy. It was in pretty good shape beforehand, having the "paint protection" installed 19 months ago. But, it was pretty scratched up.

I washed - clayed - washed - SSR2 - SSR1 - EXP.

This was my first battle with a PC. I think I did okay (not good). But, I used WAY too much product. I was slinging all over the place. With more practice, I will get better, I'm sure.

I don't know how to post multiple pics on a post, so here are a few pics....

Before #4 Full Vehicle Shot...Not too bad, considering I haven't touched this SUV in 19 months...

Okay, on to the "after" shots. I apologize for the lighting, but it got real overcast real fast, here.

After #1 Hood Shot

After #4 Full Vehicle Shot...This is after only 1 coat of EXP. Next week will be coat #2...

Alright, that's it. I'm relatively happy with the results. I used a polishing pad exlusively on the PC. (I switched between products). I thought about using a Finishing Pad for the SSR1, but didn't think it would make a difference. I applied EX-P by hand with a poorboys applicator brick. Even though I wetted it down with S&W, it did not spread easily. Very easy to remove though. I did the whole SUV, and then wiped it off in order of application. If the weather had held out, I would have done coat #2 or EX-P. Oh well, next week.

Okay, I have added the second coat of EX-P in the garage. I followed the same procedure as yesterday, but the product went on a lot easier for some reason. After letting it "haze" for 30 mins, I removed it, no problems. I put it on 24 hours after the first coat. I must admit, when I examined the Envoy this morning, I was pleasantly surprised. It looked better than I thought it did the day before. I plan on putting a third coat on next weekend after the weekly wash. Then, I will be done...until July.

wow, good work Fleet. I got to ask what camera are you using, it shows the scratches clearly and didn't underexposed when taking the hood shot

Thanks for the compliment! This weekend, I'll put the third coat of EXP on, and take a couple of more pictures and post them. The second coat went on nicely yesterday.

I have an Olympus C-4040 digital camera. It's a couple of years old, but still works well. It is a 4.0 Megapixel camera. The only issue I have with it is that it uses Smartmedia cards, which are no longer widely available.

Topper?

I've been doing some thinking, and now I'm confused. Happens all the time. Instead of putting a third coat of EXP on, should I top it with wax? Would a coat of EX be worthwhile?

I have EXPx2 on now. I'm thinking of adding 1 coat of EX. Maybe I can get some Natty's or S100 as a topper.

Any opinions?

If I were smart, I'd quit while I was ahead. But, I've put so much into this, I hate to stop a step short.

You could top it with Natty's or S100. Adding another coat of Ex-P (after 2 coats) isn't going to change the appearance just possible extend its life a little longer. If you are trying to add some more depth or wetness than topping with a good carnauba would be ideal. On the other hand topping with EX would also add the carnuaba depth so I guess :dunno you have a decision to make :lol
