What I have planned next is Optimum compound on an agressive cutting pad.

I want to use PB's EX with some kind of Carnuba wax(please give me suggestions)

What I really want to know is if you were going to detail my car what would you use and how would you use it. Oh plus I have bad water etchings on my trunk and hood and I still have a good but of swirls after the last detail which was only 2 days ago. Sorry for the long post but I want to do this right and thanks for your help.

I don't think you need a cutting pad for Optimum compound, from what I've gathered since I'm looking to use it to get rid of those tiny dots in my paint as well.

Well, I guess just try the least abrasive pad and see what that does. No sense in removing more paint than you have to. Looks like water spots or something, at least that's how it is on my paint.

Remember it's a compound, so there isn't a true need of a cutting pad unless you're looking to remove a lot of paint. I think the cutting pad will be overkill from what I've gathered. If I'm wrong, I hope someone corrects me now before I go any further.

My '95 GT has those "dots" too... almost like pin-sized etching in the paint. I am just living with it, as I fear that if I get agressive enough to remove them, I may compromise the clearcoat. In my case, glaze before an LSP seemed to minimize them a bit. I used Mothers Sealer and Glaze and topped with #26.

Let us know how you make out!

dont be afraid to use the aggressive pad, our cars have hard paint and it wont even take much clear off. I had those same spots also, and got rid of them using optimum polish with a light cutting pad

But he's going to be using the compound, not the polish, and a aggressive pad. I guess I'll have to start a new thread on how to polish with Optimum Compound with a PC.
