Picking up a new car

I haven't posted much; more reading and learning than anything else but if his state requires a front plate then he would have to drill the holes eventually anyway. So that shouldn't be the big deal but I do agree about the damage to the bumper.

He shouldn't accept it until he is satisfied when it comes to damage done before delivery has been taken.

Probably a good thing to not have the car prepped this way you can see all the "defects" that the dealer tries to hide on you.

I think he was planning on just taking his chances without the front plate.

Yeah, at least here in Ohio, if you don't mind the occasional fine, the front plate regulations aren't really an issue.

I've yet to be cited for it and I've had quite a few traffic stops in cars without one. Accumulatorette just got off with a oral warning (63/50 and SHE doesn't even get a WRITTEN warning  ) in the WRX, no front plate, the LEO didn't even mention it.

It's USUALLY just a "selective enforcement" thing, a probable cause/"excuse" to pull over "interesting" individuals.

Yes, the front plate is required in New York, but I NEVER ONCE put the plate on the front of my M3 for the 3 years that I had it. If a cop pulled me over and asked about the missing plate, I told him that I had to buy the proper bracket to mount it and that I would be installing it in a few days.:D

Honestly, I don't think most cops really care.... they never gave me a ticket or anything. And believe me, the M3 was a cop-magnet.
