Picked up my new Equinox

and no I'm not foolish enough to get a black vehicle to sit outdoors 24/7:doh :crazy

Hey! Was that a shot at me? :beat
:hot :hot :ranton :wall :moon: :duel

Steve,
Congrat's on the vehicle !! They are so cool.

Oh and by the way I won't take any offense to the statement "foolish enough to buy a black vehicle that sit's outside" comment....like my Black Z71 Tahoe does.......thank God for S&W.

I Know what you mean about the radio. Mine does the same thing ...it's so cool. My Z came with the Bose sound system and can pretty much blow you right out.

Enjoy it !!
Mike

Before pics

Here are some photos from the Equinox's first detailing session. As Steve said, the dealership was instructed to only remove the cosmoline and do nothing more.

The vehicle was slightly dirty with only a bit of embedded contaminants. A traditional hose and 2 bucket wash seemed prudent along with a good claying.

Before, tire and wheel -

There was also a little comsoline residue which required spot treatment with SSR1.

This job is going to require a lot of microfiber. Luckily, Steve has a lot of towels. Here are stacks of velvet smooth and work towels.

Work in progress. This is after washing and claying. Seemed to make the paint a little whiter, but not really shinier.

After pics

Ran out of daylight, so continued the next day with a S&W session to remove overnight debris. Applied PwC by hand (work towels) and followed-up with EX-P by hand (PVAs). Used velvet smooth towels to remove all residue.

After a long day of detailing, I got stuck in a huge traffic jam on the way home. I was parked in this spot for about 45 minutes.

At least you got stuck behind a black 5 series! How come that van is full of MF goodies? I didn't know you could use shop towels to apply stuff. I just saw some at Sam's Club, maybe the terries / shop towels are useful. The Baja Sol's aren't working very well.

Oh yea back to topic! The Equinox looks unique but the white looks alot cleaner. But a darker next time Steve! How many cars does he have now? :crazy

Yes, it did give me a chance to really look at the new 5 series. I still don't like the design of the trunk lid. I'm just glad I was parked in a shady spot. The folks stuck in full sun must have been quite toasty.

Yes, you can use microfiber towels to apply products. Poorboy's Work Towel worked well with PwC.
