Perhaps the oddest post here

Ok, this is going to be a strange post. Ok, so tomorrow we're supposed to have a garage sale, and knowing that we don't really have that much stuff, my mother in law donated something for the event. She gave us a ceramic pot with a hole in the middle of it! I've never seen this sort of thing before. Perhaps, inside one of you, is a chef waiting to get out that knows what this is. I've tried doing a Google search for it using various strings, but no luck yet. Maybe your wife, girlfriend, signigicant other may know.

When I first saw this, I didn't know what to think.

I like to cook. Does the hole vent into the bottom of the pot? If so, it's a steamer that's placed on top of a pot of boiling water.

My wife is a chef, She just looked at it and said is was definetaly some tipe of cake baking apparatuss......:drool5:

She wants to know how much you want for it :driving:

Clay steamer pots have been a staple in Asian cuisine for centuries. This isn't to say that a cake can't be baked in it, but that's not the intent. OTOH, if the OP's pot is not vented into the bottom, there are other possibilities.

Thanks for all of your help, guys. It turns that it's exactly what FJF stated it was, a steamer. The bottom has a real gritty, sandy texture to is, as well as the inside lip of the lid.

Thanks for all of your help, guys!! I was banging my head against the wall last night, trying to figure out what this is. lol

Flash, if Mrs. Flash wants it pm me :) This thing is in brand new condition and is well made.

Take it to the Antique Roadshow, could be worth 1 trillion dollars (which, btw, takes a long time to print!)
