It would reason, that if a car is cleaned properly then when it is ready to dry there should be nothing there except water. Right?
I mean, look people wipe dirty cars with a MF towel and QD spray and claim that it doesn’t mar the surface. I know the QD spray is suppose to lubricate the surface and all but water also has lubrication properties and the MF towel definitely doesn’t have the damage potential of dirt.
bet993, you are correct, you car should be completely clean after washing it. But is it usually? No. It never is. This is why, IMO, the CB isn't the greatest, because in all my years of 1 inch washing (yes I use a 4"x4" microfiber towel to wash my car, rinsing like a mofo) I still have yet to dry the car with a completely completely clean towel. And even if I do, with the white applicators that I use rarely apply AIO and have it stay white. Now mind you by the time you get past 2xAIO and hit SG, then yeah, the applicator stays white, but that's after all that prepping.
Now, I agree again in that I never condone QDing a visibly durty car. Dusty perhaps, but not like a layer of dust. But, I say if you're going to do it, do it in the way the minimizes harm. QD and a plush microfiber towel does it. It's actually more of the plush than the fibers. Cause yes while the actual fibers may never scratch, the plushness enters to be more important into the equation in concern to marring. Have you ever gotten specs of cinder or dirt in your towel? You notice how difficult the stuff is to get out of the nap of the towel? perfect example. It's the final reason why I don't necessarily condone waffle weave drying (buffing yes). Just me.
If you are going to wipe a dirty/dust whatever car with a microfiber and QD, I would recommend you spray it down with some good streams of water. You want to get as much of the physical matter off as possible, the stuff that is not particulate gets sprayed with QD, gets dissolved and get's safetly remove with the plush side of a microfiber cloth. And that is probably the best way to do it.
Also, if you have bugs it's time to make the judgement call. Bugs do more harm sitting there than you and a QD bottle and microfiber do. So, spray the QD (you can even let it sit on there with some tissue) and dissolve that bug and then wipe it with a microfiber towel. At that point there's something to be said about the wiping technique. You want to wipe in such a way that you release new clean fibers to the surface of the car as you picking up the bugs. That way you're not smearing bugs on your car. It's sorta a rolling up carpet technique kind of motion.
Finally, QD makes a great water spot preventer on freshly cleaned cars because it wets out the water (breaks it's surface tension) allowing you to dry the care more effectively and preventing drying spots.
My final tip is to wash your car late in the day because it get's humid and when it's humid out water does not evaporate as fast.
Now is that hard core enough for ya
