people knowledgeable about Klasse come inside, two questions....

first question.....
  1. do you think AIO polishes as well as a product that is specifically designed just as a polish?
  2. how would i go about removing AIO? (i did the AIO and now i would like to give Pinnacle Paintwork Cleansing Lotion a try, so should i just use the PPCL over the AIO then re-wax or should i remove the AIO first?)

    [/list=1] Thanks- Ja

1. Klasse AIO wasn't really meant for removing swirls and such by hand or with PC. It was primarily a cleaner-sealant type of product.

When I was using Klasse AIO with my rotary, it acted like a light swirl remover. Removed the minor haze left behind by Menzerna IP. It also made the paint noticably redder, candy coated shine.

I would place Klasse AIO's ability to clean a "little" (empahsis on little) less than Pinnacle PCL, P21S/S100 Paint Cleaner when used by hand or PC. Can't comment on rotary usage since I haven't used light polishes or glazes with my rotary.

2. PPCL will remove AIO. If you want to remove swirls try a swirl remover, 3M PI III Machine Glaze comes to mind with no fillers. I have tried the old orange smelling of PPCL it was very gentle, and left paint squeaky clean. From what I hear, the new PPCL is stronger.

Well, Klasse was one of the first things that I heard of off of this forum; since then, I've used it a lot.

AIO isn't really a polish. It's a cleaner (and a really good one at that). It won't do much for swirls, but it does a hell of a job on oxidation and other cleaning-related conditions.

Never used PPCL, but I'm sure it would remove the Klasse, so you don't really need to *remove* it as a separate step.

If you really needed to remove it as a separate step, you could probably try using some isopropyl alcohol. But I don't think that's necessary.

my paint is in very good condition, i dont really have much of a need to remove swirls. it does have VERY tiny "swirls" but they can only be seen if its in bright sunlight and you have to look from certain angles to even see them, theyre actually pretty hard to see unless youre really looking for them. i was just curious of how well AIO polished compared to a product that was specifically designed as a polish. the car looks great with the AIO topped with PS, im just trying to see if i can get a little extra "pop" by using the PCL over the AIO. Thanks- Ja
  • P.S.- i bought the car with 9,000 babied miles on it, im asuming the barely noticable "swirls" were cause from the previous owner using lousy towels or just poor wash/dry technique?

I have used Pinnacle PCL on a fairly new car with good paint with a PC and foam polishing pad. Then topped it with Pinnacle Souveran Paste. The paint was Mustang's speed yellow/light yellow. After PPCL with PC then PS, wow the paint was radiating and glowing nicely. This car is kind of like a garage queen though, doesn't see sleet, salt, or snow.

THe PPCL might help remove some VERY light swirling with PC, and covers them up if used by hand. Offers a nice base for PC. I find Klasse AIO to actually magnify some paint defects (swirls, spots, and orange peel.)

i agree, i used the AIO on 2 other cars prior to using it on my '01 vette just to get the hang of it and see if i even wanted to use it on the vette. those 2 cars both have decent paint with some minor flaws, the AIO did seem to make them more noticable and also "hide" them in other spots. but after some waxing and washes they seemed less noticable and the cars overall appearance was much better as opposed to before the AIO/wax treatment

so everyone agrees theres no need to remove the AIO prior to useing the PPCL? i should just use the PPCL over the AIO correct? Thanks- Ja

hmm but the AIO gives me more protection then the PPCL will right? so if i do that i basically wont have any protection other then the PS wax right? it is a garage queen but i kinda like the idea of having a layer of AIO under the PS just as a sort of more "permanent/solid" layer of protection. hmm decisions decisions..... lol Thanks- Ja

CuriousJa - In case you're still on the fence, Jason's right, the PPCL will remove AIO (ad whatever else is on there). It just might give you a more accurate color too; some people find AIO darkens certain colors (especially reds). And like you, I find it makes most swirls MORE noticeable.

I know what you mean about extra protection, even on garage queens. But the AIO's protection is pretty minimal. Why not try a layer of PUPP or BF before your PS? Gives me added peace of mind Re bugs and bird bombs. If a sealant isn't in the cards, I'd just try the PPCL/PS and see what you think. You're gonna have to replenish the PS regularly anyhow. I used that (with no sealant) on a lot of cars for many years and it WAS very nice.

Jason- I found AIO cleaned BETTER than P21S' GEPC :nixweiss Probably has a LOT to do with what is getting cleaned off. Just thought it was worth a mention as you and I seldom get differing results. I was experimenting, with numerous products, on a loaner car in AWFUL condition. Didn't waste MY PPCL on it as mine is the older formula. Saving it up for who knows what.

PPCL doesn't give any protection, its just a paint cleanser.

You may PPCL, SG, PS, but PS offers enough proteciton for a garage queen, and you get the un touched PS looks, great look IMHO.

 Why would you want to remove AIO?? Its not really putting down anything significant enough to interfere with anything else you may be using. Why use it if you are going to have to deal with removing those pesky polymers that it may or may not leave behind? Just use something else like FI-II if the Klasse polymers bother you that much I guess.

AIO is a cleaner and not a polish. It will just clean the paint. That is all it is designed to do. You need abrasives to become a polish. AIO doesn't have any.

its not that Klasse bothers me, i actually like the AIO and my car looks great with it. im just curious as to if useing PPCL might give me a little extra "pop" when its topped with PS.

Accumulator, probably does have to deal with the paint condition and differing methods of using the products, jsut too many variable to place two products to perform for two different people in two different environments. also remember there is a shelf life on liquid products, no definate amount of years, but anything over 10 years I would chuck if not useful???

Ja - use what you think is best :) PPCL, want AIO add it, then PS.

Yeah, LOL, I'll probably "save it for that special something/someday" and then find it's all dried out! Wouldn't be the first time!

CuriousJa - Since both the PPCL and the AIO are so easy to use, if *I* were wondering about it, I'd just do PPCL/AIO/PS and see how it turns out.
