peanut butter on trim?

Laugh as much as you like but the oils in Peanut butter do take of old wax residue. As for Pledge it does work great on interiors only now I use multi purpose so if you touch the glass it does not leave a streak. Leaves your interior clean, dust free and non oily. My $0.02:cheers:

This is the reason I do not post much on this site. If you think outside the box and give your opinion it turns into a joke. I use a lot of different detail products but from time to time I do also look for an alternative either in a pinch or to save a buck. It may seem funny to but from my experience pb made a positive difference and I would use it on my own car.
I do use this site allot for reference and there are a lot of awesome members and incredible detailers here. I got the idea of using pb from this very site. I have come across some cool tricks and some others that I thought where goofy but I would never laugh at someone elses opinion on the forum.

There is no dispute that peanut oil will work to remove old wax from grainy trim. However there are tons of products on the market that are specific for this purpose that work a lot more effectively

If you are talking about PB trim restore that product rocks. For removing old wax and restoring the trim back to a nice luster in one application it my go to.

I haven't seen anyone being flamed or made fun of in this thread. In fact several pros have agreed that it works. Its rare to see someone being made to look like a fool on this forum. The jokes made were about peanut butter and not the OP. If a person wants to clean their car with food then that's great. Mike Phillips says "find something you like and use it often". I just want to see some before and after pics.

I have been using that trick for many many years and I don't think it's funny to use that product at all. My own ride had a spot that I use PB and found it work fine for me. Use what works for you is what I say. I have told folks for many years to use it when they don't have a product that will help and they also found it work very well for them.

I don't think the comments were to make fun of or deny a use. It at least
for me was a reminder of old tricks before we had many purpose built products to use. I'm sure we could fill a thread of old "outside the box" tricks, some good, some now, not so good.
It's good to throw ideas or tricks you hear out there. Non of the members who posted fun, I have seen demean anyone in the past for a question. We do have a little fun and get sidetracked sometimes though on a topic:).
 
Things like this makes me wonder who thought of it and how the whole situation went down. I can imagine a couple guys in a driveway trying to get turtle wax off of plastic, and one saying "I dunno..put some peanut butter on it and see what happens". It also makes me wonder what was tried before the peanut butter lol.

I love to make jokes and wasnt making fun of the OP for using peanut butter . I do however think its funny to use something like that on a car .....its just unusual and strange and makes for good jokes , No harm intended! Honest!:)

I say whatever works! I have a lot of my own unusual tricks that are not considered proffessional and outdated that I keep to myself :D
