pcxp vs griots

Touyotaguy- Glad, but not surprised ;) , that you like the GG's.

Heh heh, did you call me "Frank"? :grinno:

jaynick808- Never say "never" :D If you ever get a chance to take a Cyclo for a spin (oops, sorta-pun :o ) I'd be interested to hear what you think. With all the other options out there for serious correction, these days I do really consider it a "finishing/burnishing" polisher, or something for LSPs, but it's one of those rare pieces of equipment that I simply *like*, whether it's just sitting there looking industrial-age cool or in my hands doing some work.

I used the PC for a couple years and upon Accumulator's advise, I bought the 6" GG extended cord version , and damn does it have more power than the PC! I would say it damn near has the power of a rotary, definitely surprised me and took an hour or so to get used to it and keep it under control at speed 6.

The pcxp is a pile of turds. Its the worst machine on the market as far as next generation D/A's It funny I have a hardware store beside my shop and I bought 4 from them all in the last 4 months and all had the same defects. Adventually they only work on speed 6 then they take a ****. I pulled these things apart removed switches and even created a toggle switch on the one. I finally stopped buying them. Last week I found a local store who sell the surehold polisher. This machine is very sililar to the griots, but has a cute finger holder on it. This and the griots are by far the two best d/a machines out there. A big two thumbs down to the PCXP. A little shout out " Hey Porter Cable What happened to you guys?

Don't be shy Barry, tell us how you *really* feel :chuckle:

Oh yea for what its worth the cyclo is an awesome machine as well.

I knew you'd like how its built, but I've been wondering how its performing for you  I'm guessing that you use it for final polishing/burnishing, right?

I'm sure glad my recommendation worked out so well, I'd hate for somebody to spend that much on my say-so only to be disappointed. But then I guess that with Griot's you could at least send it back...

dave, i think you would really like it (noticably more power than the PC and i'm sure you've heard all the raves from everyone who has bought one), and all you have to do is send it back if there's anything wrong with it (the back of their receipt makes returns as easy as could be). if you purchase it direct, you have 6 months to try it out and if you don't like it, send it back. since you're going to detail fest, demo one and see for yourself and that way you'll know for sure. hope you've been doing well! ;)

I just picked up a GG DA a few weeks ago and have only dabbled with it on 1 car so far. Looking forward to using it again on this weekend's project. Power seems great and the machine appears much more quite.
