PC7424 heating up??

Hello everyone, I just purchased a PC7424 with some 6"pads and 4" ones from WG. While using the 4" pads with optimum compound yesterday, I felt the PC heating up. I was working on my side door at speed 2 to 3.

My guess is that i might have used too much strength trying to make sure that the pad is in full contact with the work surface, as the heat dissapated when i changed to the 6"pads.

I also noticed that using the 4" pads causes the PC to jiggle much more than when I used the 6" pads. Oh yes, i had the 5" counterweight on when using the 4" pads and changed to the 6" counterweight then using the 6" pad.

I have never used any machine for polishing my ride before so any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!! :helpsmili

I advise you use 7 1/2 in pads. Lot more contact and its a curved edge to protect your ride from getting banged up by mistake.

Yes you'll generate heat when using alot of pressure. Don't be affraid to up the speed either . I get better results on 5k for polishing.

hi hawaiianelement, thank for the advise. I have tried using the 4"pads again and increased the speed and seems like it could b that the PC is new, causing the heating up, cos i used it for almost 1 and half hr earlier and the heating prob did not seems so serious after all. Many thanks :emlaugh:

did tried op compund followed by op polish and top with collinite 845, gave my black with metallic flakes a deep wet look. the flakes were popping man!! this is compared to zaino i had previously, which had look rather muted then.

alright way togo . Sounds like you found a nice combo for the popping effect. Thats what its all about.

The bigger pads are easier to use but if you like the 4in then who am I to tell you different?

Post up some pics when you get a chance..aloha
