PC Wool pads with CMA kit- Observations

Was polishing out severe haze and scratches out of a 15 year old non-clear coat paint job on a 57 chevy. There wasn't a square inch that wasn't scratched. Tried the white pad with FI-II - no good, went to the yellow pad - a little better.

Since I'm new to this, I was a little concerned about using the wool pad. After hours with the yellow pad, I was doing the lower quarter which was really bad. Said the heck with it, if the wool pad swirls it, it can't be any worse than what it is.

The wool pad removed 95% of the scratches after two passes with no swirls whatsoever. Couldn't believe it. Did the whole rest of the car then followed up with the yellow pad - which I didn't need to do, I just felt like I should.

Went over to my brother-in-laws house and started doing the hood on a 1970 GTO Judge with original paint. The paint was never, ever buffed, only waxed. It was in the same shape as mine.

Same thing - the wool pad worked great with no swirls whatsoever. He's going to follow up with yellow although both of us agreed we couldn't see any difference after following the wool pad with the yellow one.

I'm wondering if the no swirls is because of the non-clear coat paint on both cars....

I dont know the answer to your question, but I once did a 90 Mustang with a wool pad and it took out 95% of the swirls as well.

I beleive it did not have a clear coat either.
