PC with Paste Wax?

I'm so used to using the PC now that I really don't do much by hand anymore. I just ordered some high-end wax, and was wondering if it would hurt to apply p21s or Souveran with a PC? Could I just slop some paste onto a finishing pad? Would this yield any different results than by hand?

On DavidB's PC guide he shows applying a paste wax via PC, so should be fine.

Either pop the wax out of the tub and apply, or use a foam applicator to apply it to the PC pad.

yeah should be fine. I have applied #16 with a blue DAS finishing pad - worked great, although I have to admit I have only used it once and now I have went back to hand application.

With the 16 you can smear the pad around the top of the #16 tub and it goes on the pad OK. For P21S or souveran you can use a small plastic spatula to scrape wax out and spread it onto the finishing pad.

let us know how you get on.

Anyone know how to "pop" #26 out of the plastic can? It has a tapered top and I don't know if I can get the whole piece of wax out. May have to use the ole' spatula, but I would rather not!

If its a plastic can, you can try one of two approaches. 1 is just to shatter the plastic and keep it in another tin. 2 is to use a knife to cut a circle of size equal to the opening of the tin. Pop this chunk out, and you're good to go. There will be some leftovers, but you can either melt them down, dig em out with a butter knife, or save them for when you wax by hand.

I apply Natty's via PC all the time unless a hand wax is requested. The plastic jar is completely smooth inside, no lips or anything. I pop it right out and make a few light passes over a finishing pad. When I do this, I turn the jar's top upside down and place the wax on it for easy access when I need more.

With pastes that don't have a jar like Natty's, I cut the wax into quarters, pop one piece out and apply it on the pad.

P21S will just pop right out.....no need to cut the edges. With my cordless orbital in one hand and a chunk of P21S in the other, I can apply a coat of wax ridiculously quick.

Do you buff it off by hand or do you use the PC?

I only use the PC for polishing, and sometimes for 2nd-to-LSPs like Meg's ColorX or Autoglym SRP. There's no rubbing involved with waxes/LSPs, so hand application is plenty fast enough.

But if you love your PC, applying wax with a PC certainly wouldn't hurt!!

Do you just kind of squeeze the jar? I don't want to break the jar and have no where to put my $30 chunk of wax.

Ok, just turned the jar over and gave it a nice tap on the bottom and voila.....whole thing came out in one piece:up

On pads with a velcro backing, I just apply the wax to the pad directly from the can like you would to any applicator, that way I dont have to worry about the slippery ball of wax hitting the ground. It does slow you down though.

what about the FK1 Pink wax? will it just plop right out of their jar? or is it tappered?

i'm planning on ordering some and applying a few coats of it via PC.

Mmmm... toasted buttered pads. :D

Seriously, tho, I tried applying some p21s via finishing pad and it was just too much trouble, if you ask me... Using any paste wax by hand is quick and easy enough for me, more control around edges and trim and less cleanup. Time savings? I don't see it.

It just takes some work to get it thin and even by hand, so if thin and even is your main criteria for laying down a paste wax, I'd think the PC should be great...
