PC too strong for headlights?

Same here. The trick with the rotary is a few final passes with light pressure at 1000 rpms, only a few times have I come back to find faint holograms and that's been on softer paint. Nothing real bad but the paint did look perfect 30 minutes earlier! :lol

I'm usually following the KB method with #105 with #205 and a rotary so I don't have any real idea about #205 doing any filling via DA polisher while doing the KB method.

Question Scott... so do you use the KBM with a DA and then follow up with a rotary? If so, how much product do you use on a rotary? I would love to try this method out with a rotary. I do understand on how to prime the pad using a DA.

so... 205 is not good to use before a sealant on the headlights? We kinda got off track and now Im wondering. Was going to try it out on a set of Nissan Armada headlights.

I have used and PC w/ M105 followed by M205 on more then a few sets of headlights/tailights with no issues.

5 minutes in the sun usually does the trick. ..I finish using #205 and let the vehicle bake in the sun for 30-40 minutes. I've had a surprise or two when I return..

I bet that Texas sun works super for that! I can't pull stuff outside due to contamination issues (sigh...) so I never think to recommend that.

.. I never correct anything more than rotary swirls or M105 hazing with..[M205]...

Me either, though people here that I respect say it'll do more correction than I would expect.

I've never had anything "come back" with either M105/M205, but then I hardly ever have that happen with *anything*. IMO (and that's all it is...my opinion based on what *I* have experienced), a proper choice, progression, and use of products makes (undesired) concealing pretty much a non-issue.

BUT, I can imagine it being an issue with M205 for some people in some situations as it sure leaves a lot of oils behind.

It oughta work fine as long as you IPA wipe/PrepWash/etc. to remove any residual oils (which would probably get cooked off by the heat of the headlights) primarily because they might interfere with the sealant's bonding. Headlights wouldn't worry me as much as taillights (the lenses are made of different materials).

I use #105 usually with a burgundy Meguiars cutting pad or a Soft Edge orange cutting pad with my G110, then do the #205 step with my rotary and a yellow Meguiars polishing pad. My experience has been that #205 isn't always strong enough using my G110 to remove the hazing from #105.
