pc to sand wood prepped with primer?

Hi,



I've got some pieces of MDF cut to make a few floating shelves in my living room, and I will be painting them various solid colors. The people at the hardware store said I will need to put on a couple coats of primer before painting, and to sand between the coats - this will apparently get me a very smooth paint job.



Okay to use the PC to do this, so I don't have to by hand?



I'm lazy
