PC Pad Question - Brushing Pads

I'm currently using the PC for the first time, and loving it so far! I only got a chance to do one panel last night and WOW, what a difference!



I'm currently using an Orange sonus pad with DACP (#83) on the wifey's mazda (pretty awful paint condition.) After doing the panel, I put the pad into a ziplock and I'm getting ready to take it out and begin again this morning. My question is:



How do you know when you need to brush off the pad? David's ebook says "when the pad becomes caked w/Polish" you need to brush it off. The pad obviously has white residue on it from the DACP last night. I assume this is not "caked" but wanted to make sure.

What I have noticed was the product built up on the pad around the outer portion. Just use your judgement and use a toothbrush to see how much product comes off. Once I had entirely too much product on the pad so i just quickly cleaned and spun dry the pad and continuued. Hope this helps
 
If you notice the product building up in a nasty-looking way, then's the time to brush/wash the pad. It'll look "wrong", I think you'll know it when you see it.



If you only have "caked" product around the outer portion of the pad, you can try dampening the brush with QD and just brushing that part of the pad.



Generally, I don't have to brush PC/Cyclo pads very often. IMO "caked product" usually comes from using *too much* product. Not always, but often, so try to only use as much as you really need.
 
Thanks guys. I finished the DACP with one pad, and also the #9 with one pad. I have to say, the #9 was soooo much easier to work with than the #83. Maybe using the green pad instead of the orange pad also made a difference. Both pads are now soaking. Time to AIO!:xyxthumbs
