PC or UDM ?

Well I have been using the PC for quite some time now and love how easy it is to use. I have recently come across the UDM here on autopia and have read that it possible works better then the PC but is just as easy to use. Now I know for a fact that I am not ready for a rotary but is the UDM really that much better than the PC becuase if so I think I am ready to take the next step and get it over my PC.... Any input or help would be greatly appreciated !

I got the UDM and I like it but I keep hearing that they are breaking on people. The replacement policy is great though from my understanding.

I would think that if you already have a functional and working PC, don't waste your money on buying a new UDM since they are so similar, unless you get a good deal on a trade or can sell your current PC. Some may disagree.

Given all the UDM problems I have been reading about, I would stick with the PC. I hear more postive comments about the return policy for the UDM then I hear about the UDM. A great return policy doesn't make up for a crappy product - in my never to be humble opinion.

I'll throw another option into the mix. Check out the Flex XC 3401 VRG. It's a similar concept as the PC/UDM, a random orbit buffer, but it also has forced rotation. And it's Orbits Per Minute (OPM) is 9600 as opposed to a PC which is 6000. It also has 480 RPM for the forced rotation at max speed. I just finised a Hoday Odyssey minivan that I would still be out there polishing if I was using my PC. It breaks down polishes so much quicker. There are 2 downsides. First, it's around $269, so it's more expensive, and second, it's not quite as easy to manuever around when polishig. But the power more than enough makes up for this. Take a look at some of the other threads on here on it.

Hmmm very interested after reading the post on the flex my only question is what is forced rotation ? and how easy is this to burn to paint as compared to a rotary

OK forced rotation is like what a rotary polisher does, the flex has the forced rotation and the random orbital at the same time. The pc/udm only has random orbital and has got a lot less power then the flex. With the ro and the forced rotation mode you cannot bog the flex down at all.I t has quite a bit more power and it will cut your time in at least half compared to a pc/udm and the finish just comes out so much more crisper also.

Forget about the UDM. I had the pleasure of trying one over the weekend. I'm so glad I never got one.

The vibrations are beyond ridiculous. Hated it.

Short, sweet, and to the point. Nice summary, Superchargedg!!!

Now will it be just as easy to burn the paint with a flex as it would be a rotary ?
