Yes, you can use a PC to buff wood finishes (at least those wood finishes that can be buffed).
Which products you’d use would depend on the particular type of finish, its condition and what you are trying to accomplish.
I believe most wood finishes are softer than auto finishes so it’s a good idea to start with somewhat less aggressive products and work up.
If your finish is cellulose lacquer it’s probably much softer than acrylic lacquer. Are you sure it’s lacquer? I think most commercially finished pieces are done with urethanes these days.
