PC finishing polish technique...

Why are 2 more polishing steps needed to finish that side out? Doesn't look that bad.

It didn't. ONLY ON JET BLACK BMW PAINT. I thought I was pretty clear on that. :nixweiss

Not that clear I guess or maybe your pic threw me off? I referring to your need for 2 steps after using M105 via DA. Please don't take offense; if you have. Just asking because I don't understand.

David Fermani- I've had to do two steps with M205 after using M105 via DA. First M205/Griot's orange to clear up the M105 artifacts, and then M205/finishing pad to refine things just a tad. That was on hard clear.

Wow - that's on hard clear too! Did you try M205/finishing pad before using the M205/orange to see if the bridge could be crossed?

I usually see the least amount of marring on medium to hard clears. Seems like there's less chance of pad marring on those when I use M105/cutting pad. Final polishing clean up is usually extra easy with something like M205. On harder clears there's only so much gloss you can create. It's the softer clears that may require a little more refinement for me or the switch to a deminishing abrasive. Every car and experience is different I guess.

David Fermani- Actually, I've *only* used M105/M205 on hard paints, just haven't corrected anything with softer paint since I got those products and I'll probably stick with other polishes when I redo the Mazda. (Not sure what I'm gonna do on that Ford if/when it finally gets home.)

Yeah, I tried M205 with other pads, but got the M105's hazing out better with the Griot's orange.

Reminder- The Griot's orange is like a LC hydrotech tangerine, much milder than "regular orange" pads.

Also note that I inspect for such hazing with the SunGun, with which I seem to see flaws that aren't always apparent under other conditions (even sunlight).

2 steps only on soft paint using a DA. Otherwise #205 is enough. With a rotary, I always do two steps after #105 to be absolutely sure I don't leave any holograms.

I found this to be true for my friends black bmw 745i

105 with a DA wasnt touching the swirls, but 105 with a rotary got them all out but left a little marring, and alot of hazing. So I had to use two steps of 205(I used green and black) to get them all out.
