PC counterweight

i ordered the pc through coastal tool and it comes with the backing plate. i ordered the 6 in pads from CMA. i just noticed that the counterweight that they sent with it says 6in pad only. and the one that is one there is for 5 or something. i have not noticed the pc wobbling or anything, but should i change the counterweight ??

Maybe I'm not reading it right but I'm having a difficulty figuring out whether you have the 5 or 6 inch counterweight.



Either way, from what I read (and I read a lot) the 6 inch counterweight is recommended for the 6in backing plate in order to avoid excessive vibrations. However, many people are using the 5in counterweight and don't experience any problems.



If you don't feel any vibrations then your setup is fine.

Most feel you need to use the 6" counterweight with the 6" plate to avoid unecessary vibrations or possible damage to the machine.

The "5" counterweight is only meant to be used on pretty much the white polishing pad that came with your PC. Read this thread and it should answer most your questions.

The 5 inch counterweight is also used for the 4 inch pads and backing plate if you ever go that route. I personally like the size and use the 4 inch pads frequently to do my scratch removal chores.

changed the weight and can tell a difference. smoother and less vibrating at higher speeds. cool :xyxthumbs
