PC correction limits?

polishing pads are the blue and white LC pads, and the yellow Megs pad

cutting pads are the orange and yellow LC pads and the red/burgandy megs pad

Sure it's possible, so is cutting down a tree with a penknife. It's just gonna take a long time. There a better machines than the PC for defect removal.

Since the time I've posted this thread, I have switched over to a rotary and only use the PC for soft paints, old paints, and spreading of lsp's or glazes. When time is money the PC just does not cut it.



If you are only doing your cars then a PC might be a good choice.

I own a black lincoln ls. there is nothing worse then living in washington state weather and trying to detail such a big car with a pc. the rotary is on the way!

Is there any consensus on what that tool is for us amateurs? Is it rotary or Flex? I'm trying to decide. Would like a rotary but afraid of learning curve.



Advice would be appreciated.
 
The PC is a very good tool for beginners as well. It just takes longer. But it much more forgiving and when learning timing is really the least of your worries.

you cant do anything with a pc you couldn't do by hand, only faster(and alot easier on your elbow) it does not create enough spped, heat , and/or friction needed for heavier corrections

Simply not true and the pictures above show that. There are faster ways but you can get it done with a PC.
 
I think the PC does a fine job.

I agree the PC is a great tool, and it tough me lots, about how to really work polishes, and how different pads could make a big difference. I have a good understanding of paint now and what it takes to clean up.



I am learning the rotary by myself, I have done one car already, and I don't see why everyone is so afraid. I got great results and removed bad swirls with less effort and time.



After I get a good thing going, and gain some experience on the rotary, I am sure the PC will be used just for glaze and wax duties.
