PC backing plate

Up to this point I have run my pc strictly on speed 5 with megs backing plate and pads.

2 things-

1. What is a good backing plate that can handle running on speed 6

2. How much time did u save running the pc on speed 6

I see Megs has a new backing plate in the works

1.) all PC backing plates should be able to handle speed 6

2.) some? I never bothed to try speed 5 I don't see the point...just crank it up

The Megs backing plates are known to separate when used atspeed six. I am figuring I can definetely save some time going to speed 6. Any others u guys reccomend tha wont separate

i've been using the LC backing plate with NO problems running it at 6 or any speed for that matter, it's a well built backing plate that will last a long time if not forever... :up

not necessarily...

Well right now I have a ton of Megs pads. I do like the system. But I am going to order that plate. I would hate for it to take a **** right in the middle of a job. Price is fair too. thanks for the input.

And from personal experience has the LC pad held up to speed 6. I need to cut my polishing time. I have a beautiful white denali to do and I believe that clay and 83 would tackle it perfectly.

I've had problems this year as well with my backing plate at speed six. The plate tends to let go of the pad at that speed. I need the higher speeds to cut the swirling. Good luck with your search, as I am interested as well.

I'm using an LC backing plate but the problem I'm running into is the backing plate is 5" and the pads are 6.5" so I get this "curving" effect that makes the pad seperate on 6. I'm going to find a 6" backing plate to help keep the pad level, hopefully that will solve my issue. I'll let you know how it goes.

Here is what happened to my LC backing plate at speed 5/6:

I had just started working on my car, too. And the plate separated from the fastener that bolts into the PC.

I picked up the Meg's backing plate so I could continue the detail and had no problems at speed 5 and the occasional attempt at speed 6.

And I was complaining that my year old plate would quit gripping at 6. I would've lost it if that happened to me. -1 point for LC.
