PC around emblems

I've got a PC coming some time this week (kit)....so I've been looking around at cars and thinking how I would used the PC around certain areas.

Areas like around emblems....because there will be (I'm assuming) some space that the PC pad will not touch some space around the emblem. This will cause a duller finish around the emblem.

1. Is my thinking correct?

2. How do you negotiate the PC around these areas with out flat out removing the emblems?

I will typically tape off emblems and then go around them with a q-tip to get into the crevices with the polish. I also use removing a q-tip and then do a final brush up with a boars hair brush to remove any residue that may be left in a crack, etc.

you get a consistant shine like that - or is it close enough that no one is going to notice?

Either yes or yes, just sometimes takes a while for the by-hand areas to equal those done via machine.

If using a BHB on such areas (something I don't do very often, hardly ever), I'd sure soak the bristles in #34 or something to soften them up. I'd hate to spend forever correcting a tight spot and then micromar it with a brush, and all of my BHBs will mar paint if used dry. I use other, less convenient methods to get the polish residue out of the tight spots.

Heh heh, insert "why I debadge my vehicles" thoughts here ;)
