PC after rotary

I used Menzerna FP and FPII on my old black Audi using a PC and under the lights, I saw the faint cloudiness you are describing. I figured the PC wasn't breaking down the abrasives and tried a rotary. I found that the rotary, on a black Audi, made a big difference. Maybe not on a light color, but on black, using Menzerna, you need a rotary.

I did use a pc with other polishes, that were more appropriate. I used it with the 1Z polishes, which include some carnuba and fillers, and did not see the cloudiness.

If I was using a PC on black, I would use a polish that works well with the PC. YMMV.

I too get better results on Audis with the rotary, even though I've always done the final polishing with the Cyclo. I was kinda surprised at how much better it was after using the rotary, more than just removing the marring, it really *did* sharpen up the overall appearance. Using the Cyclo afterwards didn't mess it up, but rather refined it even more (but then I was using milder products too).

Sounds to me like some paints/products/pads/machines/users just work better together than others and that you gotta watch the generalizations.

Those of us who aren't rotary-Meisters really do have a dilemma when the sun won't cooperate...I just assume I have holograms and reach for the Cyclo.

This may be easier for you with a rotary but with more experience I think you'll find it much less stressful to finish with a DA style machine and save the rotary for correction.

I have been using my DA for a long time, and fairly recently switched across to the rotary and I personally find it far less stressful working with a rotary polisher than with the DA - both for defect correction and finishing. My results have also been notably better by rotary on a wide variety of paints with testing, as have it would seem the results of many others here and elsewhere too - guess we'll just have to agree to disagree here. For me, the rotary will be my primary finishing tool as well as defect correction, for yourself clearly you prefer the DA as a finishing tool. I, and the owners of the cars I detail, are delighted with the finishes achieved by rotary finishing, and I certainly dont believe they can be bettered with a DA style tool, and in my honest opinion, I dont think they can be matched with a DA style tool. This is not just my experience, if it was then I would be putting the reasoning firmly at user error on my part, but this is the findings of a vast majority of detailers, both professional and ameture, who I speak to.

ive never induced holograms visa rotary, i guess the man i learned from taught me right becuase ive seen no ill effects as of yet. i couldnt tell you how to as ive never seen it done.

of course ive seen plenty of cars with horrible hologramming i just have no idea what type of misuse it takes to do so.

Not soo much holograms, but buffer trails is what seems to be the big issue.

LOL, i have never seen somebody polish paint with a rotary and not leave the faintest holograming. I have seen MANY people claim it though, but when I look at thier cars in direct sunlight, I am able to point out the hologramming that they claimed didn't exist before.
