if you want to get it locally try a home depot or lowes...otherwise with your DC discount and a great selection of pads, advice from Dwayne, and free shipping, get it from PAC and wait a few days:dunno

:yeah

Get in touch with Dwayne at premiumautocare.com & use your DC member 10% off discount. He'll set you up with the PC & some pads and shipping will be free when your order is $125 or more (which it will be).

One issue I see is that PAC offers only the 7424. This comes with the smaller counterweight. Lowes has the 7336 for either $99 or $109. It comes with the larger counterweight.

From what I can understand, the smaller 7424 counterweight is fine for pads up to about six inches. For larger pads, the 7336's larger counterweight is supposed to reduce vibration better.

I bought a 7336 from Lowes for $109. I've used 4", 6" and 7.5" pads on it and it works great. I'd suggest the 7336.

Regardless of which one you buy, you'll need a velcro backing plate that fits the PC and several pads. Proper Auto Care (AKA CMA) offers a kit for $60 that includes a flexible backing plate for the PC plus 4 six inch Lake Country pads:

You can add a yellow compounding pad and a black glazing pad, and you'd be set.

The six inch pads are for folks without much experience. If you feel comfortable with a buffer, you might want try the 7.5 inch Lake Country pads.

I got the 6 inch pads first. I liked them, but I wanted the flexibility of the larger pad's shape, so I ordered the 7.5 inch pads. I like the shape better than the 6 inch pads. The 7.5 inch pads require more technique, but it only took about an hour to feel comfortable with them.

You also might want to look at Sonus pads. Some folks highly recommend them.

Don't forget to get something to clean the pads. The CMA folks have "Snappy", which I use. It seems to work pretty well:

Good luck on your decision.

Thanks for the detailed info. Unforunatley, I have no Lowe's here and Home Deport does not carry either, I will either get it from my local dealer or PAC for the $125. Does the Hook and Loop back pad from porter cable offer any benefits or just get the one that go with the pads?

Also, I don't believe the PC's back plate is flexible (which is NOT good, IMO). I think it's primarily used for sanding.

Regardless of where you purchase the PC, make sure you find the right size and type back plate for your pads. For example, I *think* that the Sonus pads need a different size backing plate than the Lake Country pads. The folks at CMA recommended the six inch flexible one for me because I was buying Lake Country pads.

Best of luck,

Dan.

The PC backing plate you get with the PC is intended for sanding & should be put aside, Dwayne can advise you on an appropriate flexible backing plate for LC pads or the EDGE system of pads.

The issue that Bookemdano brings up is valid. The 7336 PC comes with a 6oz counterweight std, while the 7424 comes with a smaller counterweight.

The 6oz counterweight is an easy retrofit & it probably costs around $3.75 to $4.00.
