PC 7336 vs 7424

I thought you had to use the 5" counterweight if you want to use a 5" backing plate, and same for 6"?:nixweiss

And being that I am going to order the 5" urethane backing plate, I assume I will need the 5" counterweight.
Actually, no. Just use the 6" counterweight with everything. The exception is that white PC brand pad.

The reason is because all these counterweights were designed with sanding in mind, where you only stick on the additional mass of the sanding disc. They didn't really intend us to adapt velcro backing pads and stick on big, polish-filled foam pads to it. That's why the 7424 comes with the 5" weight and works well with the included white pad.

Many people have found the 6" weight with the 5" backing plate to work better together. This recommendation is in big bold letters in my PC thread. ;)

Not to contribute to the confusion, but adding the SP extension to the 7336 means that it comes with the sanding plate and 6" white foam pad.

ThreeSixT-I think you will be perfectly happy with your decision. I personally use that combo and don't have any trouble at all.

Dave Holmes-I remember your order :) I'm glad to hear it all worked out.

BTW Nick,

I'm a Denver native myself. Your shop (address on your site) is right down the street from my Family's house. Once you guys open the doors to your store, I'll be sending some friends and family your way. ;)

Thanks for the support! We live near DU also.

We are hoping to have some retail space this spring. If you're in town April 17th we are doing a detailing tech session for the Audi Club. It should be a good time.
