PC 7335: a few questions

I own a Meguiars badged PC 7335 which I've had for a few years but never used. I notice the current PC's being recommended are the 6" variety, while mine has a 5" counterweight - other than that, are there any differences between the 7335 and the 7424/7336?

Is it ok to run a 6" backing plate and pads on the 7335? Would I be better off sticking with a 5" system? Or should I replace the counterweight with one for 6"?

What's a good buy on a basic backing plate/pad set for an amateur detailer?

No, no difference. It you want you can get a 6" counterweight along with a backing plate from Excel detail. They have very nice pads too.

Thanks for everyones' help

BTW, you have a rebadged 7424.

Not that it makes any difference, apparantly, but PC lists the 7424 as a 6" polisher and the 7335 as a 5" sander. This one's definitely a 7335.

You can get a 6" backing plate and counter weight, but I'm not sure why.... my pc 7424 came with the 5" counter weight and the 5" backing plate permenantly attached to a 6" pad.

I have since purchased a 5" flexable hook 'n loop backing plate and 6.5" pad collection.
