PB's wheel sealer - New Product Test

Dang Zesty how much are you braking? Never had that problem with my Xi for a day. 1 Week then it starts to build up.

Ok for clear coated wheels also? If so, we need a head to head competition between this and the Mothers Clear Coat Wheel Polish.

Bill we've been testing it on awd330's BMW wheels which are clearcoated and this is her quote from the Poorboy's World Product updates thread:

The wheel sealant seems to repel brake dust more effectively than regular paint sealants. It also allows dirt to be washed/wiped away more easily. I've been running direct comparison tests against AIO, AIO/SG, and AIO/UPP (3 different vehicles). I think Steve is running similar tests with EX-P. In all of these cases, the dedicated wheel sealant is winning the battle.

we have also been testing on other wheels, coated and non-coated, as well as plastic hubcaps...

actually i brake quite a lot, usually at 45 mph back down to 35, and around corners etc etc. i tend to brake a lot more when i have the parents in the car. ill post a pic of the brake dust after one day. another factor is that its been raining also, so maybe that has something to do with the excessive brake dust.

Hmmm. Weird. Maybe your communtes are longer than mine. Ahh the good thing about manual is you can downshift and just waste some gas. Don't brake around corners, thats when it gets fun :D

Charles so far nothing strong has ben needed to clean the test wheels:)
I've seen brake dust just wipe off with a tissue cleanly on BMW brake dust and something like Spray and Wipe or car wash should be just fine. I don't see the need right now for an APC or strong alkaline cleaner:dunno
Thats even better. I've always liked using S&W on wheels. I feel that it desolves break dust better than most wheel cleaners anyway, even strong alkaline ones. Let me know when the sealant needs further testing ;)

I washed my BMW this afternoon. This vehicle is running a comparison test between the PB wheel sealant and Klasse AIO. The wheels with the PB sealant came clean using only water and light agitation. :bigscream The wheels with AIO had minor residue which required a little car wash soap and light agitation.

My comparison test with UPP concluded today. The UPP treated wheels could also be cleaned with water, but the test vehicle (Ford Explorer) produces very little brake dust. The PB sealant treated wheels retained more of a shine than the UPP wheels. I stripped and resealed all these wheels today as part of my winterization process. This vehicle is now running PB wheel sealant on all four corners.

It takes me about 2 days and they look like its been a month since I cleaned them . I used to frown on bimmer owners for never cleaning their rims. :ticked but what I didn't know was that I was looking at a couple of days build up..WOW.talk abouy high maintenance..geez

now AWD, be sure to send some of that wax to hawaii so i can test it out on BMW rims :angel
Sorry Zesty. I don't have much of the wheel sealant left. I only got a little scoop of the stuff, so I'm going to be greedy and save it all for my own wheels. :-p

I just got my test jar of poorboys wheel sealant from Steve. I will be testing it out this weekend and do a write up of how I am doing it. I have aluminum polished wheels with NO CLEARCOAT on them. I have neglected them for a few months now and they need some attention. Basically I am going to start by polishing the wheels with Heavy Metal polish medium fine polish then finish it up with the Super fine formula from Heavy Metal. I will be using buff wheels from papajohnstoolbox.com on my electric drill. Once polished I will be testing 2 differnt application/removal methods as well as coats. I will also be taking pictures through the entire process and afterwards checking the durability with every car wash I do. ( about twice a week ) If everything goes as planned I will be posting the writeup on sunday afternoon sometime. If I do a good job maybe Steve will let me be a repeat "tester" :) on more products.

Good prep is always important before a sealant on metals or paint, and it sounds like you have a good plan of attack:bigups

Looking forward to seeing how it holds up on those wheels with a car like yours, where a lot of excess heat will be dispersed while braking that much HP. :)

from a detailing point of view, this is a good idea.

from a mechanic's point of view, bad idea. Brake pads will always cost less than clutches and syncros.

I've always believed that too, but many people think downshifting is more imporatant. I'd rather replace my brakes than worry about mis-shifting:headbang

The BMW Xi tranny should hold up just fine. But yes Braking is useful too.... or not :D I definitely want new brake pads to clamp down.

yeah, especially when I take it to the track this racing season ! :-p

P.S. Maybe I am just biased, but I love the smell of strawberries. And I would LOVE an interior (vinyl/leather) protectant that smelled like strawberries. LOL
Maybe I could take some strawberry scent and mix it with water and BnB then my car would always look great inside and SMELL LIKE STRAWBERRIES !!!
...Maybe even a spin on this idea would be different scented protectants for people to choose. Altho due to my Business background I doubt there is much room for profitablilty if you had to manufacture the same product with different scents :( altho perhaps maybe small "viles" of scent additives would be ? then u can pick a scent and add it to your BnB

forgive me if I have too many weird ideas :dunno

I think Poorboy's Natural Look is Cherry scented...and it isn't as shiny as BnB. I'm gonna pick up some of that stuff from Autogeek this week. We can test it out soon.
