Hello all, Kevin aka PassionRedR here from Overland Park, KS. I was referred by The Driver on Swedespeed (and here) and wanted to introduce the stable and kick off right: full paint correction planned for this weekend!
The stable:
2007 Passion Red S60R - Mine
2010 Passion Red XC60 R-Design - Wife's
Pics:
And for kicks, my old G35:
So.. As far as detailing background goes I have probably tackled 25 cars, starting with my own G35 as a DIY job then doing others for cost. I used poorboys SSR series with good results but just recently switched to the good old M105/M205 combo.
What I have in the detail bin:
PC 7424XP - Rotary sometime soon
Lake Country Orange, White, Blue Pads (x2 each), 6 inch, with backing plate
3 inch wolfgang headlight kit (pads/backing plate used for detail spots that need more work, clean and use with much less abrasives)
2 Buckets
CG CW&G Soap*
Off the shelf at AZ MF towels (I know, I know!)
Off the shelf AZ wash mit and sponge
Unknown (forgot) Waffle weave towel (one)
MG White Clay
Optimum Blue Clay Towel*
MG M105*
MG M205*
PB SSR 3
PB SSR 2.5
PB SSR 2
PB SSR 1
BFWD Sealant
Carpro Reload*
NXT Techwax 2.0
Sonax Plus Wheel Cleaner*
Carpro Perl*
Carpro Tar-X*
Carpro Reload*
MG Tire Shine
Eagle One Nevr-Dull
Meguiars Wheel Brush*
*new/never used as recommended
Assorted interior products for another thread.
So the reason I started posting is 2-fold. One was to review new products as recommended by The Driver to ease detailing the cars since neither have been under the polisher yet (I got out of the game there for about 2 years with a new kid/house/wife/kid 2). I wanted to get something that I could do in a 12 hour period while getting excellent results with my XP, and LONG DURATION. I am embarrased to say neither car has had much treatment (XC in 4 months or so since last wash, R was "dealer" detailed and has repelled dirt for a while longer, I got it in June of 14 and washed about monthly). With a chaotic home I am looking for longevity over shine, and only rarely having to get back down to the paint.
With that said here is my list for Saturday's detail of the R:

§ Engine: 1 part Perl / 1~3 parts water
§ Tires & Rubber: Undiluted~1:1 (I recomend 1:1) 2 thin coats with 20 minutes or more between will offer the best looking dark black tires you will find.
§ Interior Vinyl and Leather: 1 part PERL / 5 Parts water
o Engine Compartment
o Window Seals
o Door Seals
· Rain-X to all windows
o Apply to MF
o Allow to dry/haze
o Wipe off with dry cloth
Feel free to comment/post up as you wish if you see anything missing. The exhaust is going to be the biggest challenge as I didn't get any products outside of the sonax wheel cleaner plus and the Eagle One (not very good for caked dirt, great for relatively clean tips) to clean it, and it hasnt been washed since it was new I dont think.
So thanks, hi everyone, I'm a regular on forums I join so I look forward to contributing, doing a write-up (s?) for the R detail and the RD sometime soon (Spring 15 is the plan).
