Reminds me of something I saw a few years ago.
While in college, I worked for a time in a liquor store on the outskirts of Gainesville, FL. If anyone has spent any time in Central Florida, you know that the further from town you get, the more "Deep South" Florida becomes. We had several customers that would come in early in the morning for a quick fix of something cheap to start their day.
One woman in particular stood out. She looked like a well-dressed, professional woman and drove a fairly nice car. She would come in, buy a half-pint of store-brand 100 proof vodka, then get in her car and do a slow cruise from one side of the parking lot, around the back of our building, and come out the other side. I never really paid it much mind until I asked a co-worker what she was doing.
Apparently, she used to come in, make her purchase, then proceed to the ladies room to drink it all before leaving. A female co-worker caught her once and told her she couldn't drink on premises, so I guess her solution was to drink it in the car before leaving our parking lot!
It's pretty said the hold alcohol has on some people. Luckily, I've never had to deal with it firsthand, but I've had friends and extended family that border on full-blown alcoholism and it's scary and frustrating to watch.
