Painting Brake Calipers

I was thinking of painting my brake calipers. Is there any benefit in doing this or is it just that it looks so cool? Also what type of paint should I use and what is the best way to do this? What color would be best with a white car?

I did the same thing for my calipers on my Integra last summer. Here is the thread. You would have found it pretty quick if the search was up and running right now. It was only on like page 3 though. :)



Use high temp engine paint and I would suggest brushing it on vs spraying it on. Spray the paint into a paper cup and then get a brush. It will save you from overspray and getting paint on your rotors. Trust me on this. :p Hope that thread helps. I know that BradB has a thread in here somewhere too. Just go page by page and check the thread titles. Luckily this isn't a very busy forum so you'll probably find it pretty quick. :xyxthumbs

what type of paint and what method did Brad B. use to paint his calipers. I was thinking of getting the G2 caliper paint (epoxy). Also brad did you clearcoat your calipers after putting on that sticker?

i've heard good things about G2. gives a good finish even if you don't sand first
 
Last time I painted my calipers was a year ago, I cleaned and wire brushed them and painted them using a foam brush and RustOleum paint. I painted them when I last changed my pads.



So far they still look like the day I painted them and the color is great.
 
A Tip I Have Learned..When Painting the Calipers..Its all in the PREP!..Also a coat of Primer helps!Hides any flaws!

I Installed a Set of the Big Brembos on my Wifes car and the Brembo calipers are silver..Well the old calipers were RED. and I Painted the rear Calipers to match ..Silver does not cover well over RED!

I've heard that Foliatech is very good on calipers. Also, I see Eastwood has caliper paint now in several different colors. I think the dedicated caliper paint would last longer that the other stuff
 
I have the FoliaTech caliper paint on my car and it looks great. It's been on for 2 years now and has held up to the Canadian winter very well. Well worth it.

Does the primer have to be heat-resistant also? Or am I OK if just the paint is heat resistant?



Brembo kit and Tenzo 18's are the next order of business on my econobox Civic. Total cost? over 3K.. Ouch!! Where did you get your Brembo kit?



I'd like to get just the Tenzo's, but the Civic calipers and rotors are just so darn unimpressive looking. Got any pics of your Brembos?
