How can I tell if the plastic in my car it painted?
I've been meguiars vinyl protectant and have been told that it cannot be used on painted plastic. Is this true? I do not want to ruin my interior

Why would you think that it has been painted?
Is your interior an unusual color?

I don't know if it will cause damage or not on painted surfaces, but if that's what they say I would try it in a spot that isn't that noticeable.

Are you talking about the plastic panels around the doors?

Most all those are dyed and any dressing that you use on them will harm them in anyway

What is the make of your car and year?

Somewhat of an odd question.

Some of the old cheap interior paint would come off if you were not careful. Most interior paint now is not really paint but a spray dye. I don't know of any product that will remove the dye. If it did it would probably destroy the plastic in the process. I would be concerned about using a product that had a warning like that.

I would think that it might have something to do with streaking and or a greasy look on the painted plastic. You may get the same thing with the 303. From what I can recall, I don't remember any painted plastic in a 2001 Maxima, but I haven't been in one in a long time either.

Looks like the bezel around the shifter may be painted plastic. Other than that, I think you'd be okay with the Meg's product you originally mentioned.
