Paint thinner on tires - now I'm pissed

I posted a thread yesterday about my wife accidentally getting paint on the sidewalls of tires from a freshly painted curb she hit. I took the advice of another poster to respond calmly and tell her it wasn't such a big deal. When I got home, I told her it was OK and that I could get it off, not to worry. She says "What do you mean? I already got it off." Come to find out, a painter had stopped by to give us an estimate on painting our house and freely applied PAINT THINNER to my tires to remove the paint. That REALLY pisses me off that a man wouldn't have more respect for another man's property. Never mind the fact that my own wife lets him do it. Ugh!!!

Some are born with balls, few with brains, and fewer with both.:argue :angry

I don't understand your anger at the painter... If your wife mentioned it, why WOULDN'T he do it. I'm not suggesting you get angry at your wife, but she was just trying to 'fix things'. The painter was merely doing what asked (i find it hard to believe he did it just randomly without asking).

And i'm curious as to what paint thinner does as well. It shouldn't do anything irreparable. Just gives an excuse to slather the tyres in dressing!

ferb!

Yeah, I say the painter was just trying to help an did not know better. Hell, they are only tires. If it is that messed up just buy a new one. Not like it is paint or anything.

Baker,

I think its alright. You're Wife had good intentions and the painter was just doing a good deed to help out your wife. They didn't know that paint thinner isn't good for your tires. Its the thought that counts right?

Incidentally, let's try to avoid the profanity -- especially in the title of the thread. This is a family show, remember. :up

I don't think paint thinner like that is going to do anything to the tires. People have applied solvent based dressings to their tires for years without any problems.

I also don't think the paint did it as a random thing.
