Paint thickness gauge purchase.

I need to purchase a paint thickness guage that ideally measures in microns. A fairly decent one here in the UK will cost me approx $400 - $600. Could I save money by buying in the US?, what model do you guys suggest?

Interested in whats out there as well. (I'm in the US) -- But I have never seen one. I don't think they are common items, not in hardware stores and the like. Speciality order at best.



But with the value of the dollar you could probably save money, being the lb is double the dollar, and euro moreso.:brit

I use the Q-Nix products QNix® - Hand - held gauges for non-destructive coating thickness measurement. Made in Germany.



The one that is best suited for a detailer is the Q-4500 which measures both steel substrate and alloy. It also reads in .1 Mil instead of the Q-Nix Handy's .5 mil.
