Paint reducer

I had two scratches in my clearcoat that were fairly large, took my truck to Tri-City paint here in S.D. and asked what I should use to remove them. The guy came out with a rag and rubbed it for about 3-4 seconds and removed them.I asked what he used and he told me it was a 'paint reducer'.Anyone know what this is?I've never heard of it and it worked awesome.Ran a search but couldn't find anything.

Thanks,

sounds like paint thinner....Sounds like he softened the paint with it and kinda mushed it around the scratch and blended it.....I wonder what it did to the clear though????

Maybe made it thinner in that area???

All he said was 'you'll have to replace the wax that was removed'.I dawn washed then re-applied Z5/Z2 and it looks great. Would I be able to tell if the clear coat was thinned out at all? I guess no matter what, whether I wet sanded or used a compound, the clear coat would be affected somehow...

Paint thickness gauge will tell you how much you have but since it was not measured before no way to tell now.

If it looks good and you are happy ...... SMILE!!!!

I am pretty sure it did not do too much.
