After driving this rental CR-V for a month, I decided this afternoon that I could not stand the swirls, hazing, marring & water spots any longer. I decided to give Poorboys Polish with Sealant a try with the Edge 2K Orange (Light Cut) pad to see what improvement I could make before my knee & shoulder told me to stop.

First a few befores . . .

The paint felt like sand paper & when wiped with a micro fiber, you could hear it catching on the fibers, so claying was definitely needed. I used lots of Poorboys Spray & Wipe as lube, and an old clay bar that I had set aside for wheels. It is now so full of contaminants that it is in the trash!!

Then I hit it with the Poorboys Polish with Sealant on the Edge 2K Orange pad, spread at 2 & bumped up to 5. I made lots of slow passes with moderate to heavy pressure. When I checked the hood, I couldn't believe the improvement. I had planned to step down to a polishing pad, but I was so pleased with these results that I listened to my knee & shoulder & called it a day.

And of course, the money shot . . .

Well, I did this car a few weeks ago for my aunt she was wanting to sell the car. As you can see below the paint was in horrible shape with crazy swirl marks and just plain neglect. After I had put in around 8 hours on the car my aunt decided to keep it..lol Well hopefully this is a worthy candidate. Thanks for looking.

Process:
Wash: Meguiars nxt
Clay: claymagic blue clay bar
Re Washed: Meguiars nxt
Polish: Ssr2.5 with LC Orange pad followed by Ssr1 with LC white polishing pad all by Pc
Sealant: Poorboys EX
Wax: Meguiars nxt tech wax

On to the pictures........

In an attempt to keep things fair, I am disqualifying any votes made by members who have signed up today and those who sign up through Friday.

I don't see us having contests that are voted on by members again. It's just too hard to keep things fair.:(

:wow:  What in the world? I thought this was a friendly competition. I hope none of the contestants were trying to fix this by signing up false names. Its too bad things have to come to this. Troy, keep up the good work....:dcrules

No one has signed up under false names that I can tell and I don't think there was any intent to cheat.

It is my fault for not laying out better guidelines for voting from the beginning.

Good Luck All.

It's unfortunate, but it isn't anything new in online contests/voting.
It's very common to solicit votes from friends and family and while it doesn't violate the rules, it does kind of make the results lean towards the better recruiter of votes.
Chances are, it was not an intention to cheat, just an effort to get more votes.
Over the years, several solicitations of votes were posted on DC for contests on sites that had nothing to do with detailing.
Not necessarily wrong, but not quite following the original intent of the contest.

Almost sounds like an explanation of a political campaign. :D

O shwew, I hope not. Good luck to all of ya'll. Now how do I go about signing up for false names...hmmmmmm
It's actually pretty easy.
It's also pretty easy to detect.
It's also pretty easy to get booted when it is detected. :)

And yes, I did take it as a joke. :D

Charles

I just don't get why people would want to cheat anyway. I guess I'm just too honest of a person.

While I'd love more than anything to win this prize, I want to win fair and square to know that I truly deserved it. If I lose...so be it and I'll try harder on the next contest.

I've said this before, but to me, the fact that you guys have all contributed to my knowledge within the past year here and helped me to actually get my cars looking this good is a 'winner' to me.

Thanks Troy for having such a cool contest...hopefully you can do more in the future!

:bow to everyone that entered & voted. It was great to see everybody's work in one place that way & :thanks to Troy for running the poll!! And a special thank you to all the members who have instructed, advised & encouraged me along the way!! :bow :bow
It was really a great learning experience for me to see how much improvement I could make on something that had not received the same kind of pampering that my own cars have.

I forgot to vote:wall Congrats to Nourah and make good use of all those gloves:D
Steve, do you think I could use those gloves as applicators for the new Red Natty's?? Or would I have to stick with Natty's Blue??

Congrats Norah....make sure that you do a review thread on your prise (the gloves) I know many of the members here can't wait to see that
