Paint gone bad? Need your opinion

So, a few weeks after I purchased a brand new Camry '07 I noticed that the paint had weird black spots on the paint that essentially looked like a tiny larva was embedded in the paint. I took it to the dealership and they said "We don't think there's anything wrong with the paint, if you notice more of them things showing up, bring the car back in and we will look at it"



Well, it's been 4 months and I have noticed a few more spots during my wax and maintenance sessions, so I wanted to know what you guys think...do I have something to worry about? Future potential rust issues or paint cracking? When I put my finger over the area it seems like it's underneath the paint.....



I will try and take better closeup shots with my work camera later in the week, but my personal camera can't do better than this shot:

It looks like something (a contaminant) was on the surface at the time the car was painted. I realize it's not ideal, but any paint job is going to have some flaws. IMO you're in no danger of premature paint failure from what I see in the picture.
 
I appreciate the input....I will post some additional pics this weekend since I never really leave my office when the sun is still out...it's reassuring to know that it should be fine at least...I see lots of other owners out there with nicer cars than mince that don't seem to care...and I don't get it....

I agree with Setec. It's hard to tell from the photo but you could try to clay the area and see if anything comes off. Otherwise it looks like it is under the paint.
 
Contaminents is exactly what it is!! Could be from a number of things, dirt, dust, or whatever, but the reason its catching your eyes, is how the silver metalic flakes lay on the surface. Its very hard to explain without actually showing you, but just think og the metalic flakes as little mirrors, so if its angled alittle, its going to reflect light differently. If you can't feel it, you shouldn't worry about it, just like stated above...no worries!
 
I took some pics this weekend after I waxed my car...this is about as "close-up" as I can get...if I don't hear otherwise from anyone else I will lay this issue to rest...

It looks like something on the metal that was there before it got painted at the factory. Whatever it is, it looks like it's sealed under the paint, and looks unlikely to cause problems (apart from the aesthetics).



It might be a good idea to keep a record of your conversation with the dealership, including the name of the people you spoke with so that you can have cover if there are any problems in the future...
 
yeah, that's pretty much what everyone else has said....I have a record of my original 'complaint' to the dealer as well as photo's of all 3 areas where these 'dirt' items appear. I will keep tabs on them in my wax sessions.
 
I think the car had some transit damage and was repainted. That looks like dust under the paintwork. It appears that the painter did not use a tack cloth to remove dust on the surface prior to painting.
 
I guess my next question would be (a) should I leave it alone, and what could potentially happen if I do or (b) go ahead and take care of it, and does anyone know of any good places in Phoenix, AZ?

We've got on 07 Camry and we notice the paint scratches really easy. I don't know what it is with this stuff. Same color as you too.
 
This past weekend I applied this specific combo by hand and it cleared out almost all of my paint scratches...



a) started off with a good wash

b) used Meguiars ScratchX as well as 3M Swirl Remover on bad areas

c) applied Meg Liquid Car wax: Gold Classâ„¢ Liquid Wax G7016 Product Information

Note: You can find this at AutoZone for about $11-14

d) finished off with Meg # 21 Synthetic Sealant: Meguiars Mirror Glaze #21 Synthetic Sealant



The results were amazing...I'm looking into getting a dual-action polisher like the UDM-1000 but I want to read up on the "how-to's" of machine polishing (my arms were like jello this weekend)....but I am convinced I'd remove all surface marks and get and even more amazing finish....



I do agree with you, the Toyota paint does scratch easy and the paint comes off easy as well from the bumper front so I ended up getting a carbra from my roadtrips (fits like a glove and goes on and off in less than 4min).
