Detail City's Paint Finishing Picture Contest

We are starting a new series of picture contests here at Detail City! :yay

Here are the categories we will be starting with:

PAINT PERFECTING click here for details

PAINT FINISHING (This thread)

This is not the best time of year to start these contests so we are going to run them through the end of April of this year so you northern detailers have a shot as well. :snow:

Contest Extended! To get more participation from our northern members we are extending this contest through 5/31/07.

I know we have some awesome detailers here, so we would like to use some of your great pictures on our store (We reserve the right to choose which pictures will become content on our store). :bow

Submit your pictures by posting them on this thread. One winner will be selected for each category. The winner in this category will receive the following package of Wolgang, 303 and our best Microfiber with a combined retail value of more than $200.00!

12 - Silky Smooth Microfiber Towels 16x16
2 - Silky Smooth Microfiber Drying Towels 20x40

We will narrow the contestants down to five in each category :inspector:, and then let the members here judge who the winners are! :10:

Voting will begin on the 1st and end on the 4th of June. Winners will be officially announced on the 5th.

Each category has its own thread, The category for this thread is - PAINT FINISHING

Here are some guidelines;

- We are looking for before and after shots with the best shine you can produce!

- We would like to see a shot of the product being used as well as a shot of the product being displayed with the finished work.

- Please only take pictures showing the last product that was used to finish the paint. If you layered with different products, feel free to list them, but do not include them in the picture.

- This must be a product sold by one of our sponsors here to be eligible.

Looking forward to seeing some great work! Good luck and Happy Detailing!

Troy

PS. A few important notes.

Any pictures submitted to this contest become property of Detail City. and could possibly be used in our store. Please remember not to include license plates or business signs in your picture(s).

Results must only be produced through detailing products and techniques, and not assisted through re-painting or re-coating of surfaces.

Prizes were changed prior to any contest entry on 2/17/07

And no fair using tricky photography. Your best shine better not be a money shot angle in the shade on a black car. Let's see some real skills here and not just the 'black cars in the shade' pictures that we see on other websites. :thanks

Remember, the winners will be determined by your peers here at DC. Make sure you get your pictures to show your excellence in detailing and not trick photography like Jngrbrdman mentioned!

Cool contest.

I'm just glad to knock the salt off my ride this time of year :)

How come so many of your american cars have no orange peel. Are all sanded back or is your paints better than our aussie ones.
Some of our cars are low op and a few none but every car I see on here has none.

I think your paint standards are the same as the US with low VOC and water based paints you are bound to get orange peel. :passout:

I've seen loads of pictures of Charles' Yukon with various product combos. There's no way he uses tricky photography :rockon

Speaking of his Yukon, it's been a while since I've seen it. Charles your Yukon could even make a mime say "Wow..." :bigups

I have decided to move this thread into the Detailing Showcase Forum.

Looking forward to some great pictures.

:dcrules

alright well heres some pics.... just a spring detail on my ride... the process i used was

-wash with mernzerna auto shampoo
-clay with blackfire policlay
-a light polish with mernzerna final polish 2 with a white pad... using intense polish with an orange pad in problem areas like the rear bumper
-just a single coat of liquid pinnicle souveran

and since there seems to be no limit on pics heres quite a few they were taken over 2 days because monday was overcast and didnt want to "cheat" and my favorite was taken by my friend which is the first one
