Paint Cure Time Before Expel Applied...

I had the hood and front bumper cover repainted on my '96 Z3 3 weeks ago to have the 250+ rock chips repaired on the front end. Talk about automotive acne!!! These cars sit so darned close to the ground they almost attract rocks like iron to a magnet. I have 3 acquaintances that have had 3M Expel applied to their vehicles this last year and they all look great and have had no chipping since the installation. I plan on keeping this Z3 indefinetly so I'd like to protect the new paint job as long as possible. Two questions please....

(1) How much if any of a "curing" time should there be for this new base coat/clear coat on the Z3 before the Expel is applied?

(2) Should I polish and wax before the Expel is applied or just leave the paint alone as is?

Thanks...Michael P.

1. You should ask the paint shop that did the job what is recommended cure time. In most of the cases it's 30 days and the only product you can use is 3M Imperial Hand Glaze.

2. From what I could gather about x-pel you need to have the surface completely clean before installation and most installers will use something like 3M wax and tar remover to clean the paint.
